LSU is now in the market for a new coach for the first time since 2004, which means one of the top-10 jobs in college football is now available.

You seem to forget the circumstances in that case. Very late Saban departure, several other premiere job openings already filled by the time the job came available, etc. After Petrino shite the bed in the process, Miles was the best left on the board . . . . unless you believe what Saban said when he proposed Houston Nutt.

Saban made these clowns delusional. ?

Yea. We're so delusional. An ex gump qb made a statement that nearly everyone in the media agrees that it's a top 5 coaching job and we're delusional.

All up in your gump heads. We aren't too bad, you idiots live on the LSU message boards so something must be interesting

USC
Texas
Alabama
Michigan
Notre Dame
Ohio State

All better jobs than LSU

Could make a case for Florida, Georgia, FSU and several others if we wanted to.

Notre Dame isnt a better job than LSU. Living in the past. They don't recruit at a high level because of higher academic requirements

Georgia is hands down a better job than LSU and I'm not even trolling.

The state of Georgia is quickly reaching Florida, Texas and California levels when it comes to elite recruits.

You guys are killing me with these arguments. Geographic location CAN be a consideration and the determining factor for coach.

Why is it hard to believe a guy from the south would rather coach in the Sec than at USC. Why is hard to believe that a west coast coach would rather coach at USC and not Goergia.

Tom Herman may want the UT job over LSU and might prefer to make 3mill a year at Houston in the short term waiting for his dream job to open. That doesn't necessarily make UT a better job, but the job he truly wants.

Miles was better than average. Oklahoma State was horrible until he got there. Beating OU twice in a row was an amazing achievement for them at the time. They were not the same OSU that you see now, and that's because of the work he did there to set up Gundy for success.

Again, he explicitly wanted back in the college game. There isn't anything about alabama that made him leave the league. You could have been anybody. Like I said, save the revisionist history. You're not fooling anyone but yourself.

The timing was right for Alabama to get Saban.

He would have jumped at the LSU job if it had been available, maybe he would have done the same if FLA/UGA had come calling.

It was a job in the SEC, Bama offered him an un-Godly salary never seen before in college coaching ranks, they gave him everything he asked for....complete control of his program without input from the fat cat donors/boosters, huge facility improvements, and an enormous recruiting budget.

I don't think Saban would have jumped back into college if just "anybody" had been offering. Alabama made him an offer he couldn't refuse at the right time in his coaching career.

Wrong.

1. Potentially more money. Go back and look at Lardass's ten year deal in 2005 and then come back and say with a straight face that they can't outbid LSU.

2. Recruiting. Louisiana? Please. ND has almost 30 players in their roster right now from Florida, California, and Georgia. Florida and Georgia are SEC states, but ND has more players from those states than LSU. I'm still laughing at the dumbass who said ND was a worse job because it was in a state with no talent.

3. More stable administration.

4. Easier path to the CFP.They've been in the NCG since LSU.

Anyone who thinks LSU is a better job, tell me which point above is wrong.

its not, but this thread was about the premise of "best job" in the broad sense, which isn't a topic which takes in to account for personal preference.

I think there is about 10 or so schools, maybe a few more (including LSU, FSU, etc.) that rounds out the 1b and there are probably only four or five schools which make up 1a at any given time. Its a very fluid think to try and quantify in terms of which schools are in the top tier vs. the very good tier just not quite in the top 5ish

Come on, don't just so a drive by down vote. Man up. Make an argument. Which of the above points about Notre Dame are wrong?

Look how ignorant you are.

Louisiana? Please! The state with the most NFL talent per capita in America in which virtually all kids grow up wanting to play for LSU.

Do you think Notre Dame has the defensive talent they really want from those states? Do you think it is often or rare that the Irish get kids from those states that the SEC powers want? You really need to stop while you're behind.

Fail. Don't be an idiot. You're talking one state, albeit a good one. Florida, Georgia, and California each have more, and ND has a solid presence in all.

They have more out of state recruits because they dont have the instate talent. jesus thats not that hard to comprehend. lsu coach doesnt need to leave the state like they do.

That 2nd part is irrelevant. Notre Dame doesnt have some cupcake schedule and 1 loss almost is a certain way to get left out of the playoff.

Even if you were right (bzzt wrong again), does LSU have an Auburn with which to compete in state? Nope.
