Yep. All a coach has to do is keep Louisiana talent home to be an annual title contender.

ut this thread was about the premise of "best job" in the broad sense, which isn't a topic which takes in to account for personal preference
Unfortunately personal preference is the ultimate factor for a coach.

Shocking to hear that from him

It's true though, LSU is the best available job in the country right now. And unless USCw or Texas fire their HC's it will remain the best job.

Come on man. USC, Texas, and UF have loads of talent and have been absolute dumpster fire losing seasons far worse than LSU. You guys put way too much stock in raw talent and not nearly enough in coaching and development.

At no point did I say that coaching doesn't matter. But the most important ingredient - raw talent - is rather easy for an LSU coach to collect. Miles had to take incompetence with his offense to a staggering level to fall out of title contention.

all this is just for shits and giggles anyways.

Let's say herman wins it all at Houston this year, he isn't leaving. Let's say Jimbo likes where he is, and he doesn't move.

None of that changes that lsu is a great job. It just means that the supposed top candidates like where they are.

Lsu hopefully will end up with a competent coach that will recruit well and compete.

Nick saban wasn't a known commodity and neither was Les miles.

Let's wait and see how all this plays out.

How many of them have vacancies? Without a vacancy they are not a destination for someone looking for a present opportunity at an elite program (someone willing to wait for a future opportunity is a distinct possibility that LSU will have to contend with), they already have one. They are irrelevant to any discussions unless LSU tries to hire away their current coaches. I doubt LSU is going to make a serious effort to try and hire the coach from any of the schools you listed.

Don't sell LSU short. It is the best job with an opening at this time.

With the talent could definitely be better than what Miles has done. It could also be much worse as the previous examples have shown. It's the notion that any retarded monkey could make a talented team a consistent contender that is just absurd.

I laugh when I keep reading one reason why LSU is such a great program is its "passionate fan base". And yet, twice in the past few weeks alone, fans here complain that they are leaving early because "it is too hot; bad traffic; poor cell connections; games too long; bad/pricey concessions; games are boring; more fun to tailgate...i.e. get drunk". And these have been the same complaints for several yrs now. TS is a shell of what it used to be, and it is not all CLM's fault, at least according to these passionate fans.

Well...it's the only job with an opening, isn't it?

Oh I dont think that at all. Thats why I think we have to go after a current head coach. Fisher or Herman I think would be the ideal hires.

Miles was holding us back along with the offense, which he hamstrung. I dont see us going in the right direction with Miles ever so I am for the change. Of course its a risk because its a change, but thats the case with anything like this.

We have top 5 talent and if the past 10 years or so of high school kids in LA stay true to form, we can continue to have top 5 talent if we make a good hire. We just need a coach to maximize that talent.

Hopefully it works out

I imagine having a more entertaining offense and a winning team will fill the stadium for the whole game

Pulled an irrelevant and totally off the point question out of your arse to continue changing the subject about how you think Notre Dame is a better job.

When did I ever say Notre Dame was a better job than LSU?

whats funny is that you are a bama fan. you have the trump card of all trump cards in this sport and here you are acting like an insecure little bitch on an lsu message board, specifically a coaching changes board not at all related to bama.

I disagree I think Notte Dame is maybe a better job than even Bama. Endless amounts of money and tons of stew tradition and history to pitch to kids. Plenty of NfL players. LSU a heat job and I'm not going to argue position but I think people try to downgrade the ND job too much.

They have 18 players on scholarship from these states. That's a far cry from 30. Do your homework.

LSU has 17 scholarship players from TX, FL and GA.

In no way is ND a better job than Bama, or LSU.
