this cat really seems to know his shite

ETA: my bad...i thought he was talking about LSUs athletic department

He could be talking about the entire country. Most people, at least half, don't care for him.

So because you and a bunch of nut jobs on a message board "hate" Les you assume most of the country does? I know fans of several SEC schools that have nothing but respect for what he has done at LSU. The only real hate I have seen are from the LSU fan base and most of them are probably certifiable.

LSU ran off Coach Mac because he could not beat the Bear. No one was beating him back then. He won 70% of his games, was fired, and it took decades to get LSU back to any prominence in the SEC. The talent pool of realistic, practical HC possibilities is not that great: look at who Fla ended up with & that is a top 5 job by most any standards. Look at who UM is realistically looking at. We cann't roll the dice on some young & upcoming coach; we need a proven winner right now. Who realistically fits that mode? I like CLM & his staff.

Actually, I do. I know someone who was an agent for a coach that Les contacted about potentially joining that staff. Like it or not, Les had agreed in principle to that job.

It's ok man. He remained your coach. He's your coach and appears to be until he retires. Congrats.

WHATTTTT???? Mac coached for 17 years and won 1 freaking title in in 1970. When then got rid of him in '79 and preceded to win 2 SEC titles in '86 and '88. Thanks for not knowing LSU football

Wrong. It took three years after Mac left following 1979 season. LSU went to three major bowls in five years after the seasons 1982-86, won 10 games in 1987 in an 12-game season (counting bowl) and won the SEC championship in 1986 and '88 (shared with Auburn). The slide you mention happened after that.

les is smart. he knows the negas are the same "help mac pack" crowd.
the lsu adin and taf are smart. they don't want the "help mac pack / negamiles" crowd to throw lsu into another 21 year tailspin!
we have to put up w/ these loser-shutins-cripple trogs. show the anti-lsu compassion.

or, ra, b/c lots of negas have gotten the banhammer this week!

thanks, admin!

Does anybody really know, or are y'all just arguing based on who thought they may have heard the actual rumor from someone else who thought they may have heard........? I don't think anybody other than Michigan, Miles, and his agent truly knows what happened then and what's going on now. I am not a big Miles fan but would be scared to death of what Alleva might dream up to replace him with. At least with Miles, we think we might know what we have, we hope.

What alternate universe do you live in where LSU went into a "21 year tailspin" once Mac retired?
