Does it bother anyone that we will likely not have both O and Aranda anymore?

The odds of Orgeron staying if not given the HC job are extremely slim imo. Those two together are such a great duo. Just sucks that we wanted and dreamed for Orgeron to come here for so many years and we will probably lose him after this season (unless both Fisher and Herman say no and O wins out, imo)

I'd still love to see Orgeron as HC, Aranda as DC, Kiffin or another top OC, and Myles Brennan at QB and just see what happens.

After the Bama game though, I believe you have to make Herman and Fisher tell you no first. If they do, and O wins out, I think it should be him next.

I don't see where O leaving is a given. He will make a shite ton of money as DL and RC next year.

If we hire Aranda as HC, I bet we still have him so I don't see a problem

This is my big fear. Big more concern is that Saban fired Bo Davis before the season bc of a recruiting violation. If he hires O we are in big trouble recruiting wise.

It's not just about him. The new coach might not want to deal with the awkwardness of having the interim guy on staff

Saban has Karl Dunbar as his DL coach

IMO, no, O won't be back. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.

How much better do you think Bama can do? They only have 25 scholarships and they already get anyone they want. Quit being paranoid.

Given the aggressive way he has campaigned for the job (with an ear to the message boards and professional media outlets) I'm not sure he will stay and I'm not sure a new head coach would feel confident of his loyalty being to the new coach.

I would like to hear him answer the question of whether he would happily stay as DC and RC at LSU (to some of the media he has befriended) if another person (Jimbo, Herman, Aranda, whoever) is hired instead of him. Whatever the final decision, it has to be made with an eye for the future and produce a group of coaches who are on the same page with common interests.

I love O and Aranda as much as the next guy but I'm an LSU fan...not an O or Aranda fan.

Assistant coaches have an impact but it isn't near as big as head coaches. Give me a long term solid HC over those two for 2 years any day.

We can't let any of that scare us out of making the right move. Assistants leave all the time. That's life. That's why it's important to have a solid head coach. That's part of his job to fix those missing holes.

I would rather lose O than Aranda, TBH. I have more faith that we can replace a good recruiter than an elite defensive mind like Aranda.

You're right. I don't disagree with any of that. Still sucks that we waited so long for Orgeron and it ends up being such a short stint here.

We will keeo aranda the most important man on the staff atm. O is unlikely but making him perm HC just so he stays is a bad move.

This board did nothing but trash O in the years before he was hired. Everybody said he was toxic and a failure as a coach.

Sour grapes, I guess.

Why would anyone believe Aranda stays regardless of who the head coach is? He has no ties to LSU or Louisiana. Surely he has friends who would jump to hire him. If it's Jimbo, maybe Aranda doesn't want to work for him.
