Yes, he did receive interest from schools regarding their head coaching vacancies. Allow the downvotes to pile in but I cannot provide the names of those schools.

I think if he finishes the season strong and doesnt get the LSU gig he will take a HC job somewhere else. To be considered for a big time HC job he needs to show 3-4 yrs of winning/stability as a HC to help people forget the Ole Miss years

Exactly, which is why it seems weird to me that he didn't try to seek out those types of opportunities after USC. Unless he did and no one wanted him, which would be very concerning.

yes that year was a crazy year for schools with new head coaches. i have no proof but old articles i read but Texas passed on him for Charlie Strong because of his better resume as an HC. he was also linked to louisville, Penn State, and Vandy. every offseason seems like some team is calling him. last year Syracuse for the HC and the year before that it was Arkansas and rutgers for the DC job.

Straight up none of this is true

Hey guys I can't give any names, but LSU has hired a coach for next year

Again I can't tell you who, but I guarantee to tell you after the fact that my source was right all along. But I don't want to betray my sources confidence

It's very strange. It's obvious he wants to be a HC again. I would've thought someone somewhere would be given him a chance.

But you're right...very concerning

It was 2013 after he didn't get the permanent USC job. He left USC before the bowl game because they hired Sarkisian. The job was interim HC at Nicholls because they fired their coach. Sarkisian also publicly tried to bring O back, but he turned him down. I don't know what the position was. It may have been DC or just position coach.

O stated he received offers at other schools, but turned them down to return to Louisiana while his kids were in school here. I didn't see any credible evidence he was offered or in any serious discussions for any top level jobs.

Wow. Nicholls didn't even want him as a full time HC...

My guess is his ties with Kiffin is what hurt him the most.

Not sure how that would have hurt him. I think leaving the team rather than coaching them through their bowl game certainly caused a great deal of pause for schools that may have given him a look.

Careful, his supporters get really upset when this is brought up.

I don't think they do. I couldn't give a damn if other schools looked at him or not. The popular picks at the newest up and comer fail all the time.
