He is smart! He has the guys inside learning the game. As they school up on strategy and positioning and understanding the game they will improve exponentially. In stead of beating each other up and getting injuries from their own teammates. That one philosophical change alone will turn the tide for the Tigers.Once these guys get smart and know what they are doing they will be dangerous. This is why Saban hated to see doofus get fired. Coach Orgeron will be here a long time.

He wants to be head coach of LSU so bad he will take half of what Les or any other big name coach will command and Alleva will take advantage of the opportunity especially if Coach O finishes first or second in the division...

If he finishes first in the division don't you think he deserves the job?? I'm all about a big name hire but man if Ed O can win the west with the cluster frick team then give the man the job!

I don't think he wins out because I think he already has one arm tied behind his back with this offense. O basically said himself you can't overhaul this thing. You can only make small changes and wrinkles week to week.

Is it enough to keep up with Bama and OM? My heart says yes due to LSU talent, but my head says no because we're a little late in the game for the offense. I think the offense could improve enough to beat FL, Arky, and possibly aTm.

If Coach O goes 6-2, and Herman and Fisher says no, then I almost rather they give the job to O with a smaller contract built on incentives and give him a lot of money to hire the best OC in the business. I know he would keep LSU loaded with talent in case he didn't work out.

HOWEVER, if there is anyway you could get Herman or Fisher, you don't take no for an answer to get them to BR.

Or how about at least a game? Some people are acting like the man has already won a NC.

For years we've almost all agreed, even those of us who have defended Miles' the entire time, that Miles was never a strategist. He's essentially an old school football coach who's not exactly tearing apart film, breaking down teams on the overhead, scheming with innovative new ways of doing things, etc. He's all about motivation, pep talks, running the program, etc.

What most people have seemed to want was a visionary leading the program. A guy, who like our former coach, is looked at by his peers as very smart, innovative, on the cutting edge of what's working. Essentially, an Aranda type but as head coach.

I like Orgeron...I do. He's a great fit as a position coach, and he's clearly one of the best in the business as a recruiter, especially when it comes to recruiting our own talent laden state. But is anyone really under the impression he's some young visionary coach like what many have said they've wanted this entire time? To me, and maybe I'm entirely wrong having not spent a minute on his practice field or in his film room, Orgeron feels much like Miles...an old school football coach who's all about motivation. The fact that he may motivate and do a few things differently than Miles doesn't change his basic makeup, though.

At some point, much like Dale Brown before him, Miles stale way of doing things was too much to overcome with sheer motivation alone. Unless Orgeron is bringing something to the table other than a NEW style of motivation, I'd prefer to go wholesale change for the visionary most of you (and me to a certain extent) have been longing for. If you want REAL change, it would seem you'd want to make REAL changes...and replacing a character with what amounts to a different type of character doesn't feel like that to me.

But that's me...

I wish you all would stop this bullshite.

Let it happen if it happens.

You want to know part of the reason why Miles hung around last year? Because certain fans got emotional and stood up and cheered/cried/held signs for him on that last game.

I like Orgeron, but let it play out. I don't want to see a bunch of girls crying on his last game and get his hopes up.

I don't think with his history at Ole Miss, this will happen. You have to lean on his history as a HC. That's why we look at Kiffin and say "no-way" because he has shown he can't handle the head job at this point.

So I don't know if O will someday be a quality HC or if he is just cut out to be DC, DL coach, etc.

But you have to consider the past HC experience at Ole Miss. He has followed Kiffin around the country and he hasn't been around the best of HC's recently.
