A high-level #SMU source told me #Clemson OC Chad Morris has agreed to a multi-year contract averaging more than $3 million per year.

That's probably the job Morris has been waiting on, but it's not a great job for a coach starting his collegiate HC career.

Not a great job? Don't be dumb. He is basically guaranteed NYD bowl if wins AAC. Has great facilities, has easy recruiting, and money to burn on budget.

Yeah, SMU is in bad shape.

Not sure he can do it, but for them it's a solid hire.

SMU is not in as bad as shape as you think. They got lazy. Trust me they will be fine next year.

Dude, you've spent too much time in DII.

He's not going to be beating A&M, Texas, OU, OSU, TCU, Baylor, Notre Dame, LSU, Arkansas, BYU, Texas Tech, Stanford, FSU, Ohio St., Tennessee, UCLA, Mizzou, Kstate, Oregon, Arizona St., and any other P5 conference that wants to make it's presence known in the metroplex.

The AAC is the C-USA with a different name. Morris won't be a unique system to play for as the spread attack is now a norm for the schools he'll be battling to get recruits from.

SMU has deep pockets, but they'll have to get back to the 70's and 80's ways to build a contender there.

You are dumb all he has to do is win the AAC and win 1 big game he's going to a NYD bowl.

There are enough kids to get inside the triangle.

Have you seen what Vaught and crew have done at SMU?

Best thing they did was get June out, yes they're bad now but it's not a shamble like Arkansas was for 1 reason, it was an expected clearing out and level who they compete with.

Jan. 1 Bowls don't mean what they used to.

Get in the playoffs or you're just playing another ho-hum game that will cost more to play in than you'll bring your conference's revenue share bucket. the playoff will expand to 8 eventually and then an AAC team might have a chance. No AAC team is finishing in the Top 4 as it is now.

UCF just wrecked them 53-7.

UCONN will be their only chance at getting a W this season, and UCONN is terrible too. I think the SMU/UCONN game is basically a toss up.

I don't like this news at all. There are already about 3-4 coaches that are more talented than CJ. SMU's tank job completely covered for a very empty Tulane season...

...that won't happen next season, and I don't like how our schedule opens up so there will be a lot of people taking public shots at Tulane athletics AGAIN.

Do you even know who Vaught is? Damn you have no idea do you?

SMU glasses? What? That's rich coming from a Horn fan.

When you're going from nothing with Steele and crew to a NYD bowl and multiple bowl appearances in less than 10 years.

Wait didn't people have same comments about that Baptist school who went through a stretch also, but now is playing for Big XII

SMU is not as in bad shape as you think.

Actually UT-A UTSA etc starting up is going to help in a weird way.

Plenty of shitty bowl games on NYD for a 6 win team... But hey I wouldn't pass up 3 mil a year just to get paid to make a bowl and 6 wins
