he's not very intelligent, had no plan, thought he could recruit his way to victory, and pegged his future on brent schaefer after he tore it up for about 2 games at UTenn a few years prior

Seriously though, I believe he's stated that back then he tried to control every little thing, and it was the worst thing to do.

He said he learned to let his coaches coach and not try to micromanage everything.

He said it led to his successes at USC and now LSU.

Well he's been worse than everyone else there. By a lot.

Nutt and Freeze even recruited better than him.

he tried to build the program in the image of USC, but didn't have the talent or the demeanor of Pete Carroll to make it work

He micromanaged his assistants and was way too hands on, and was REALLY hard on people to the point where his team sorta just quit on him.

he recruited well but never seemed to be utilizing that talent

always seemed to have an eye for good assistant coaches though, i'll give him that. He gave Frank Wilson his first shot.

He's going to be better here than he was there, but how much better is the question.

No talent but he left Nutt in good shape.

Most believe had he beat MSU his last game he would not have been fired.

He also acknowledged that he was micro managing.
