And aTm fans thought they had a chance at Muschamp

It would be impressive to see Foster finally go somewhere though

It was straight up pay him or lose him to USC. Would you pick option B if you could go back in time?

I pay him. It would have looked bad for the program to lose him to USC. And it's not like their are tons of obvious candidates. Sumlin is one of the best recruiters out there, which is extremely important in college football.

Call me crazy, but I like Foster more than Muschamp. I think he is really solid. He gets the most out of his players. A&M needs a quick turnaround, and I think Foster would be perfect.

Its close for me

To the USC fan, several programs have tried to get Foster and haven't, so IF we do, I'd argue that it was a bigger task to pull off than landing Muschamp. Although I fully believe Muschamp still is/was our #1 target.

Foster is arguably as good or better though, for different reasons.

I grew up a VT fan, both parents went there and I practically grew up in Blacksburg, so I may be a little biased but Foster is the best DC in the country. He is doing all that with half the talent LSU, Alabama, and even South Carolina has. He has turned them into CB university. What he has done with limited talent is incredible. Especially considering what he has done the past 5 years with absolutely no help on offense. If he likes recruiting, he would make a great head coach, he actually prefers the spread offense. And he has turned down DC spots just about everywhere in the country throughout the years, including SC and Bama

No, home run hire any time in the last 20 years.

Saban was a home run hire 5 years ago. Apparently, I would be pissed if my school hired him today.

I'm not, some of my earliest football memories are watching Vick play in 99. and the GT game cancelled when lightning blew up Lee Corso's rental car

Definitely a better class of recruit than he had at VaTech.

Let's see, what has he done lately ?

I thought he was a coach in waiting ?

Good hire for the rest of the SEC.

17th ranked scoring D
17th ranked total D

This is with an offense ranked 97th in total O. That's worse than the train-wreck LSU put on the field.

2013
11th ranked scoring D
4th ranked total D

My money is on him staying in Blacksburg, and receiving a hefty raise.

Probably so, but to argue he isn't a good candidate is absurd.
