Attended a social function this week:

Conversation revealed strong support for Coach O if he continues his current trend. Not necessary to win out.

Process continues with other top candidates but it appears from this source the job is CEO's to lose.

I was at the same event and heard that Herman had agreed in principal to a base contract of 2.95 million heavy with performance incentives that could bring him as high as 8.75 million.

Event had less than 100 folks, business invitation only and you yahoos were certainly not there- but thanks for the humor

Only sharing what I was told- take it however you wish

For a little history, I was the first person to post CLM was being retained. Check it out if you are a serious researcher - otherwise "have a great day!"

Wasn't at the event but I did listen to the Coach O show last night. I forgot exactly what it was in reference to - maybe someone saying they hope he got the job permanently - and O said he hopes so too and got an ovation from the audience.

I don't know if it was a standing ovation since it was on the radio but it was the only time I have heard the crowd react like that to anything at a coaches show.

Gordy and Hanagriff were saying last night about how O is doing everything right as far as cultivating the people who matter as far as influencing the decision. Transparency with the administration and the press, reaching out to boosters and former players. He spoke to the New Orleans Quarterback Club this week. They said he was the first LSU HC to do that since 1977.

You don't know me, but go ahead and pretend that you do. I'm pretty sure the guy who told me this gets bad info on purpose because he likes to run his mouth. But he is damn well connected enough to have access to inside info.

Did they tell you how they know what they know? Or just what they know? Cause the how is more important. Otherwise youre asking me to trust the discernment of a person who the only thing i know is that they had dinner with you (another person i dont know).

its hard to blame them at this point. O has pushed every single right button. He has corrected the Les Miles issues. Just from what we have seen publicly its hard to not have confidence that O has a very well developed plan for how to get the program to competing again.

this is the best PR campaign ever. Trump should've hired coach O about a year ago.

We're doomed.

this is why i haven't written him off. I have no issue with anything he has done so far as a head coach even on an interim basis. this isn't a one or two game stretch at the end of the year this is the meat of the schedule and he has made multiple necessary changes to the program and really done a great job of putting his stamp on the program. If he were just doing a Hal Hunter and getting the team up for 1 game at the end of the year when we had nothing to play for i wouldn't even consider him but he has changed practice schedule, offensive philosophy, the games are well managed and he his recruiting his arse off. It doesn't seem like even the never O people have an issue with any of those items either.

Sad thing is, I think he gets the job if he just splits the remaining games without any sort of thorough search. Only way he won't be given the job is if he goes 1-3 or 0-4. He's just sucked all the right asses. IMO

And no one will be able to blame him if he fails. It's his dream job. Everyone else will deserve whatever happens in the next few years.
