I'm torn. Personally, I would have liked to see them blow he whole defense up and start from scratch.

He's a "name" defensive coach though which we don't normally hire so that's big for us. But, he was also on the staff last year of what was arguably the worst Arkansas defense in program history. I think it's tough to promote from within in that scenario even if his work with the CB's was the one bright spot.

I do think the best part of this move is that he's got a ton of good experience scheming against spread teams while at Iowa State. Robb Smith was beyond awful at this so that can't be a bad thing with most everyone in the West trending that direction.

There's not a lot of proven talent on defense so it will be interesting to see what and how he does. I'm not getting my hopes up yet at this point.

I remember Rhoads having an awesome defense during is brief time at Auburn. that's about all I got as for as Rhoads input . He'll do a better job than Smith at the very least.

Good hire and a potential great hire. Rhoads was the no brainer and Im not sure why Bret interviewed Diaco. Word was Bret never offered Diaco the job, for whatever reason but that he did sit down with him.

Rhoads has a pretty good track record as a DC at Pitt from 200-2007 and one year at Auburn as DC, then taking the Iowa State HC position.

His one season at Auburn was terrible from a team perspective, but his defense only have up 18 ppg. That is pretty darn good in the SEC, no matter how bad your team is.

In 2007 at Pitt, his defense ranked top 5 nationally in total defense, giving up 297 ypg and 3rd nationally against the pass.

Rhoads? Where we're going we don't need Rhoads!

What's his non-compete look like?

We do. They chose to hire internally. Seems pretty straight forward.

I'm not sure why what he said is so preposterous. Arkansas promoted a position coach to DC because that position coach has a track record of success as a DC. It's not like we promoted a position coach to HC who had a horrendous track record as a HC. That's what teams who can't afford anybody better do.

Arkansas trying to measure dicks when it comes to money in the program.

The LSU athletic department could buy your high school stadium and use it for a soccer field.

We're one of the few financially self-sustaining college athletic programs

If our state had more than 3 million people we would have a bigger stadium, that doesn't really mean much lol
