THEY WENT from 500 Yards a game allowed to the last six games of this year (after a six game adjustment) to being the top defense in America... This guy gets it. Weaken a division opponent and get the best defensive mind out there. What he did there with inferior talent is amazing... which is exactly why Miles won't give him a sniff. Makes too damn much good sense. But yeah...go for the guy at USC... geez..

We'll see.

Btw, why do you assume he'd receive an upgrade in pay? Alabama came after our OL coach last year and he's still in Fayetteville.

If you can get him, then good for you, because we're 13th in Total Defense right now.

The only way it would be considered a lateral movie is if LSU would hire him as a graduate assistant.

If you were Alabama, I'd agree, but you're not even Florida.

Why would Smith hitch his career to Miles on the decline instead of riding the huge wave of momentum he and Bert have built this last year?

The money. Isn't his salary $550K? How about double that?

Garrett on the line next to Daylon Mack is not exactly an empty cupboard. Game is won on the LOS.

You think those guys sniff their potential if he takes Brick with him?

Come on, Chavis. PLEASE take that fool with you.

As for claiming that some moves between SEC schools wouldn't be lateral moves, that stuff is all in the past. 5-10 years ago, when the school's stadium and market size determined how much money the athletic dept made, there were more definable tiers in the SEC. Now, with the SEC Network and current TV contract, everyone has money. Everyone has facilities. Other than Vandy, you can win big at any school now with the right staff (as long as they can recruit). So, all the comments about jobs not being lateral moves are a little outdated at this point. Coaches are going to go where they are most comfortable, go for a big raise or promotion, or if they are unhappy, but not just for a few extra $$$ and better recent success.

I like how people assume a coaches current Salary is the maximum a school could pay them

No doubt Arkansas could and would match any offer.

Smith would have no problem inheriting a treasure trove of youth & NFL-esque talent at LSU for a little more money.

Why do Arkansas fans assume that he wants to be Cal Naughton, Jr. forever to Bert's Ricky Bobby?
