I'm sure it's an asset, but I would not think it's dispositive. Decisions at this level are not made because "my friend is there."

All things being equal, I think it helps, but I don't think Herman turns down more money because of it.

No doubt, but at least Herman has someone he can confide in and ask questions about our program.

Hopefully Aranda is telling him how much absurd talent we have and how well he'd do here.

I think the young talent on the roster and the success of a mediocre coach les Miles is our best selling point.

Not implying that this will sway Herman but Aranda is much more of an asset than just a "friend" to Herman. Most of the defensive staff is already in place with someone who has allowed 11 TD's all season

I just hope Aranda is recruiting herman here and not herman recruiting aranda to UT.

Maybe. Maybe he doesn't have another plan in mind. I would love to have Herman, but I'm not necessarily that hopeful.

Thanks guys - I was also thinking that he will have a strong DC that he can count on and allows him to focus on leading and overseeing the offense!

Big plus is that LSU doesn't have a McComb connected to there school or other meddlesome idiots. Hey no one is above a buck but sometimes if the $ is somewhat close you need to look at the situation and the big picture.

No. These are grown-arse men who are moving their families' lives around. They aren't 14 year olds looking to hang with their old bros.

I don't think having Aranda hurts, but while they were roommates at Cal Lutheran, I haven't heard anything definite that they were especially close friends.

Does he have any ill feelings about being passed over for the interim HC job at LSU?

Just asking, don't know if he was offered. Turned it down?

And Applewhite also played for, graduated from, and was QB coach at UT.
