What an underwhelming hire for uga

Agreed. UGA is a top 10 job in the country and they hire a coordinator and not a proven guy.

Well, to be fair, he's proven to be pretty valuable to one of the best coaches in CFB history. So you've got that going for you.

All "proven coaches" start out as long-shot coordinators....get out of here with that fricking shite.

It was a very good hire imo...the guy has studied under the best or 8 years now.

He knows what it takes and hopefully the admins will move the frick out of his way.

I'll be curious to see who Saban replaces him with.

My bet would be Mel Tucker

saban will leave after he wins a natty this year and bama will hire herman, the next meyer/saban type coach.

of course bama would somehow get him. he'll win 4 or 5 natties over the next 20 years.

Not saying he can't do it but running a program is a lot different than just coaching one side of the ball.

Seriously doubt Alabama would take Herman. Too big of a risk.

Does he have head coaching experience at the college level? If he has some of that, even if it is at a smaller school then they know he could fulfill that role. If he's only been an assistant and a co-coordinator, I've heard it said that those things are a lot different from being a head coach so it's more of a gamble.

You're comparing Mack Brown to Saban?

idk. they got to see his handy work up close and personal in the playoffs last year. even invited him to tuscaloosa to teach ole' saban a thing or two during the offseason.

Everything you posted is true, no doubt.

Thing is, Georgia just fired a coach who won everything but a National Title. Richt won 145 games in 15 seasons.

It seems they fired him to hire someone to win a national championship quickly. Knowing that, I expected the hire to be a big name head coach, not an up and coming assistant coach who has no experience running a major program.

IMO, SC will follow the same path as Georgia and take Pruitt.
