Great schemer, elite recruiter. Not a great fundamental coach but that's what you let your position guys do. Needs to learn how to break his scheme down easier for players as communication is a consistent issue. Outside that, he's like 38. He'd get better as a DC. Comes from a great coaching tree and he'd lock Louisiana down which leads to championships. Bama fans absolutely hate him but his defense did significantly improve this year from last. In 2019 he had a ton of new starters too.

Don’t they have a top 10 defense?

Facts are facts- Golding’s defenses are good to very good and he’s an elite recruiter

1. ALABAMA WITH SABAN is an elite recruiter. The rest of the staff mostly has to just not screw up the paperwork at the dealership for Chargers.

2. Being good to very good on defense with Alabama's talent level is kind of why Bama fans want to be rid of the guy.

It won't be Lebby

I’ve been saying this all over this board but the dumb will downvote and continue to believe stupid shite.

you think 5.5m is paying for 2 coordinators and 6 assts? That's all that's left after Kelly's salary. You're talking at least 5m for both coordinators and am avg of 500-600k+ for position coaches.

It'll be more like 20-22m when said and done.

Golding has lots of ties in Louisiana. He'd recruit very good here no doubt.

Depends on who he keeps. Each coordinator coaches a position which would make the actual position coach a glorified recruiter which means less money for that position coach. At least in theory. It's completely possible to put together a top notch staff with 15 mil when you consider the coaches we already had on staff. All of these guys had great reputations before O. I think he just didn't let them do their jobs as much as he should have.

Lives me Kendall Briles for half that.

Lebby benefited from Kiffin getttinf Corrall there but what Briles has done at Arkansas with KK Jefferson is damn impressive.

Which is also why Saban lit into them a few weeks ago. Between the mongoloid Gumps and Saban... I'll trust Saban's ability to evaluate coaching talent everyday over those fans, thank you.
