The things that people come up with and the greatest is that if Miles leaves some people fear for the worse with LSU.
I'm sorry but are you blind. LSU has made themselves who they are with their play and games won not a single coach.
And for some of you to think that if we would lose our head coach to say things like "be careful what you wish for."
Well let me tell you this i guarantee you there are a handful of top notch coaches that would be involved that would love to have the opportunity to coach OUR talent. I mean just ask Les with what he gathered from the Saban years.

Yeah, y'all were just fine and dandy before Nick Saban came in.

There is always a risk when going through a coaching change.

Who? And I'm not saying you're wrong. Miles could leave, LSU could hit a home run and get better, all the fans who hate Miles could say 'told ya so' for years.
But which "top notch" coaches are going to leave their (probably) decent gigs and come to LSU to coach? And what makes you confident that Alleva could even pull the trigger on such a hire?

I have to agree with the olé piss guy. This post is retarded and full of bad statements and opinions. Not one single fact.

Every other major program (USC, UM, OSU, UTx, UTk, AU, UF, etc) hit rock bottom after parting ways with a long tenured successful coach. All have access to top talent. If you think LSU is better, and will weather any storm, then good for you.

In the famous words of Les: "Winning is not deposited some place."

Problem is that a lot of in-state recruits come to LSU because of Les Miles. Those recruits could be lost with a coaching change and a down season. That's probably why people are scared.

IMO, the same people that spout repeatedly that LSU made Saban are the same people that spout LSU is fricked without Miles.
It makes no sense whatsoever to have both of those views.

Every school in the nation is one wrong hire (notice I said wrong, not bad, since a good coach sometimes doesn't fit) away from mediocrity.
Florida is an excellent example. I don't think muschamp was a bad hire. He was the wrong hire.
Michigan made a good hire in rich rod but didn't give him a fair shot. Joke had one good season with a team rich rod put together.
We got lucky with Miles. He sustained success. That's not always the case. Tennessee scared off their coach a few years removed from the sec championship game and has been a bottom feeder.
To think any program is above this is pure arrogance

So what percent in your eyes of players committing is from the coach? And what percent is from the program?

Hilarious? I disagree.
Every year, LSU fans want Miles fired, then rehired
Given the fact that the Michigan job is open again,
Only the most blind homer doesn't worry that he would even consider it.
No one will be truly surprised if he leaves.
Eventually the Les Miles era will end.

Wishful thinking. 0-Miles for the aggies.

You must be a young pup. Wins don't just happen dude. Before Saban and Les we wen through 15-20 years of up and down OleMiss/MissState type football. We were still called LSU and wore the same uniforms. There are very few guarantees in hiring a coach. Your more likely to hire 7-9 wins that's 10-12 wins. I hope we don't have to make that hire.

Well would you like to lose out on more Landon Collins's and Cam Robinson's while you wait and see what the answer to that question is?

It's so sad when you get facts wrong.
2001: Texas A&M 21, Oklahoma State 7
2004: Texas A&M 36, at Oklahoma State 20
2-6 isn't great, but it's not 0-Miles.

quote:LSU didn't invest in the program at all during the late 70s on. Bo Rein died in a plane crash so we hired Stovall - no HC experience AT ALL. Bob Brodhead put LSU on track hiring Arnsparger. When he left Joe Dean took over and is the direct blame for the next 3 coaches because he was cheap and couldn't see the value in a top notch program. Paying 300-500k for a coach was good, because LSU football could net $100k in black.

It's that mentality that held LSU football down. I hate when people still hold value to it.
