He would be stupid to give up that gig for coaching.

Working 20 nights a year versus the nightmare schedule that coaches have. It's not even close. That's the best gig in sports....player, coach, or management.

Yep, all that work with no job security either.

I think there's a clause in his contract that waves the buyout if he ever becomes LSUs head coach.

Doesn't mean shite. If Michigan wanted him, they'd find money for the buyout.

He doesn't want to coach anymore it's very obvious. I'm sure he has had many good job offers.

I could see him going to Starkville if Mullen ends up in Ann Arbor. But that's the only out clause that I'm confident about.

I have thought this for some time--Gruden does not want to coach anymore. He has enough money, why bring on the stress and job insecurity of coaching an NFL team, or even a college team?

I get tired of hearing his name mentioned for so many coaching vacancies and yet, there he remains in the broadcast booth.

I know this is blasphemy, I have never been convinced that he was a lock to be a successful college head coach

He wasn't a very good NFL coach.

For being such a great QB guru, I can never get anyone to name me one QB at Tampa that was better after Gruden coached them than before. And once he got control of personnel there, he destroyed that franchise.

I never understood the Gruden obsession. So he's a retired NFL coach. There's a lot of those around. He never seems to try to get back to coaching either. There's been dozens of good jobs since he retired.
