Alright, so I got through 5 more chapters. The main protaganist is a kid (by our standards), and not awfully bright, but the characters around him are all very much adult and the whole book leaves plenty of room for some interpretation and speculation. I'm going to pop some corn and keep reading, though I have not quite gotten to the heavy action yet, which is incoming.

It's definitely not "Ender's Game".

Thank's for the input.

This book is Lord of the Flies on Mars. The second book is politics and a precursor to war. The third is the Revolution. There might be a few times where you roll your eyes due to absurdity or "emotion", but it's a good story with characters you'll like by the end.

the Luke Stone series by Jack Mars
Picked up the first one based on your recommendation (and the fact that it was free for Kindle). Spot on, really enjoying the series. I'm almost done with the 3rd book, probably will pick up the other two for the weekend. Thanks!!

The Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy by Liu Cixin beginning with The Three Body Problem. Amazing books. Go read the reviews on amazon.

Read about 50 more pages, then come post again. Though nothing in that series can scratch that erotica itch you have, the action picks up.

"Those moments when the drill cooled and I sat there touching my wedding band through my frysuit, thinking of how soon it would be that I had her lips to mine, her hands on my waist, her body drifting light as dust over my own."

Lol, it's in there. Great read, fast paced, and never dull.

Absolutely.

I'm excited for the next trilogy the author is writing. I think the next one is coming out around October.

ETA: Looks like it will be in January. It must have been pushed back, I remember reading originally October.

The Necroscope Saga by Brian Lumley. An interesting mix of horror, fantasy and espionage. The first 8 books are really good.

The Game of Thrones series
The Saxon Chronicles
The Dark Tower series

But for something a little different check out the Station Series by David Downing. Five books in total that are set in Berlin before, during and after the War. Can't recommend it enough.

Just FYI, I just about do audiobooks exclusively.

currently finishing up C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy, and I'm a big Tolkien fan as well. I can do anything from sci-fi, fantasy, military, etc. What y'all got for me?
Madeline L'Engle's 3 books known collectively as The Time Trilogy would be in the ballpark. Excellent reads.

I would highly recommend the 3 Stand alone books by Abercrombie in the same world.

Old Man's War by John Scalzi (Not in the series or a series but Redshirts is probably the best book I have ever read)

Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons
