I wonder if the Starks are going to completely wipe out some of the northern houses by the end of the series i.e Boltons.

I can't see any of them living.

so the series will make no mention of Jon as heir... does this kill a few theories as to Robb's will??

Wasn't the original planned title for the last book A Time for Wolves or something like that? That leads me to hope, probably idiotically, that the Starks will have somewhat of a resurgence, maybe after they ditch the total obsession with honor and do what is necessary to win.

I truly feel sorry for the Honeypotters today. All that speculation for nothing.

I know .

I was actually going to post on here based on what I read on an ASOIAF messageboard last night:

Do y'all think Brienne and Jaime are going to eventually have a romantic relationship or hook up?

The popular theory is that Jamie and Brienne will have to fight each other in a trial by combat or some such.

Winds of Winter...

I really have never got my head around the "North"...

There appears to be on the surface soooo much speculation/ mystery and the components which I will list:

Others
White Walkers
Wights
Children of the Forest
Wildlings
Starks

Then there are the current characters:

Bloodraven
Coldhands
Bran
A "Fallen" Jon Snow
Nights Watch
Benjen Stark(wherabouts unknown)

Stannis the "most" rightful heir as King of Westeros(as common Westeros knowledge stands currently) and is warring in the North for control.

And we have a priestess of the red god, Melissandra, right smack in the middle of it and is the agent for Stannis currently.

Is it a foregone conclusion that the "Wall" is coming down?

Is an Ice dragon in our future?

Is the coming Winter(Other/ White Walker) invasion to end Westeros or to conquer Westeros(meaning led by a northman ie Stark)?

Definitely think the wall is going to come down in the next book. Would that, combined with his "death," relieve Jon Snow of his Night's Watch duties and be the heir to Winterfell? I feel like Jon, being a Stark, is stubborn though with all that honor crap because of his "vows" but would he say okay and realize those vows have been fulfilled and can do what he needs to do in the coming winter?

On my reread one thing that stood out was Varamyr Sixskins being able to control 6 creatures...someone with Bran or The Three Eyed Crow/Bloodraven's innate ability plus whatever magic Jojen Paste (and CoTF magic) contains may just be able to control hundreds of creatures at once...if not more

There were a ton of hints that point to Bloodraven/Brynden Rivers either being the Great Other or being an agent of the Great Other which is the evil being that Melisandre fears so much. Since Bran is apparently going to become a treeman like Bloodraven and Jon is popularly assumed to be Azor Ahai...

A showdown between Bloodraven/Bran and Jon/Melisandre would be very interesting endgame stuff. Both Jon and Bloodraven are half Targ/half northerner (Fire and Ice). Azor Ahai vs The Great Other...too Hollywood, perhaps. But it is interesting.

I still believe, I still believe, I still believe....

Say it with me. I think the show creators have deviated from the books.....

Yes very interesting...

So lets play this out a bit.

Jon/Melissandra retreat south assuming the wall comes down and the White Walkers on the march. Currently in the "South" we have Varys/ "Boy" Targ/ Martel, Littlefinger/ Vale, and Lannister/Tyrell fighting for Westeros. Then we have the imminent crossing of Mother of Dragons.

Is there a Thermopylea type stand led by Jon at the Neck?

Do the Others break through wreck Westeros and this is when Mother of Dragons finally cross the Narrow Sea?

Are we talking a Bran/ Blood Raven/ Old Gods vs Jon/ Westeros/ Red God War?

Remember also, Stannis has lots of boats(thanks to Lord Too Fat To Sit A Horse and I think he bought some ships from the Iron Bank)

....Dany needs lots of boats.
