Michael Oher, the former Ole Miss football star whose life was the focal point of the hit movie "The Blind Side," claims a central aspect of the famous story was a lie, including he wasn't actually adopted, but rather tricked by the Tuohy family...
quote:

"The 14-page petition, filed in Shelby County, Tennessee, probate court, alleges that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who took Oher into their home as a high school student, never adopted him. Instead, less than three months after Oher turned 18 in 2004, the petition says, the couple tricked him into signing a document making them his conservators, which gave them legal authority to make business deals in his name," ESPN reports.

"The petition further alleges that the Tuohys used their power as conservators to strike the deal that paid them and their two birth children millions of dollars in royalties from an Oscar-winning film that earned more than $300 million, while Oher got nothing for a story "that would not have existed without him." In the years since, the Tuohys have continued calling the 37-year-old Oher their adopted son and have used that assertion to promote their foundation as well as Leigh Anne Tuohy's work as an author and motivational speaker."
...
"The lie of Michael's adoption is one upon which Co-Conservators Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy have enriched themselves at the expense of their Ward, the undersigned Michael Oher," the legal filing said. "Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023, when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make him a member of the Tuohy family, in fact provided him no familial relationship with the Tuohys."

Almost all of it was a lie to cover the truth - a wealthy Ole Miss couple bought a young black man for their football team. #Jokingbutnot100%

LSU is no different. Read up on Derrius Guice and Catholic High. This is a dirty business and it happens everywhere.

As a legal adoptive parent of a boy...I find this rather disturbing that a man and woman would take advantage of a child for personal gains. If this is true, and I have to take this at his word on this...this is truly sad. Again, if this is true, I hope he's able to recoup his life from this. Financially and emotionally.

Why do you “have” to take his word on this? Shouldn’t you abstain from any judgment and await the facts and cross-examination by lawyers in a court of law?

You missed an important phrase in my statement preceding that. I'll restate for you: "IF THIS IS TRUE". To determine if it is indeed true that would be up to the courts...a court of LAW...not public opinion.

Everyone always overreacts when they hear the 1st lawyers side of the story. Wait for the other facts in the response to react.

Downvote away, but it's hard to help some of those in need. Was there any complaints when he was sleeping in a big bed in a big house eating fine meals? No. He made it to the league, the LEAGUE! But only now after the spotlight is gone he comes forward with this? Cmon man, we all see color. We all knew a rich white couple helping a poor black kid had something to gain. They didn't go find an unathletic 140lb kid to help.

that's exactly what I thought. That movie was 14 years ago - where was Oher's complaint then? He probably squandered his NFL money and is looking for some deep pockets.

I will say that if he didn't get any money from the movie that's fricked up.

Everyone in Memphis knew all of this was BS as soon as the movie came out. The Tuohy's did help him, but they did it to get him to Ole Miss and to make money. It was a business move, not some kind of good hearted charity as displayed in the movie. That trash movie is about as realistic as Star Wars.

Kinda hoping Black Twitter go all in on the white family and their kids. Just to see if they can ruin them financially.

Is he that stupid that he couldn't just move on. They made a giant difference in his life. Why do people open their mouth after someone helped them big time to improve their life. I'm reminded by the college basketball who sued (I think) Mich State because he couldn't read. He made it to the pros as they developed him. If he really cared he would have worked harder in HS and college.

I have always thought he probably got half from the movie and the Touhy's got half. Like he said, there was no story without him and they were going to profit in several other business dealing they had

This guy seems really bitter that a family helped him out of a bad situation. It’s almost impossible to adopt someone older than 18 since that are an adult then which is probably why they did the conservatorship thing if true.

And now you know the rest of the story. Oher is a psycho. LINK /
