Urban Meyer Rips Tom Herman After Texas' Loss To Maryland
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports
After his opening weekend loss to Maryland, Texas head coach Tom Herman said he...
quote:

“can’t sprinkle fairy dust on this thing.”
Which Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, Herman's former boss, did not like hearing. Per CBS...
quote:

Meyer also said Muschamp “blamed us for Florida,” referring to a perceived lack of talent left for Muschamp when Meyer departed before the 2011 season.

“C’mon man. I don’t know where that came from,” Meyer told CBS Sports. “It’s like a new generation of excuse. [Herman] said, ‘I can’t rub pixie dust on this thing.’ He got a dose of reality. Maryland just scored 51 points on you.”

“That’s like, when I got here, everybody wanted me to say Jim Tressel left the cupboard bare,” Meyer continued. “If I heard any assistant coach [say that], they’d be gone. You’re done.

“Those are your players. I hear TV guys [say], ‘Wait until they get their own players in there.’ They’re our players. What do you mean ‘their players?’ The minute you sign a contract, they’re your players.

“You didn’t choose me, I chose you. You’re mine, absolutely. I love you, and I’m going to kick the shite out of you, and we’re going to do it right …

“[Blaming players] drives me insane.”

As a life long Gator fan, I regret the fact that Urban Meyer ever coached at UF. I would re-write history and even give up the 2 National Championships that were won while he was there if I could. In 2009 he stole money from the university as the head coach because he didn't coach a lick for that entire year. The stench of some of the players he brought in is still in the air. He did more long term damage to the athletic program than Ron Zook or Will Muschamp did.

UT really does have a talent issue...Mack Brown let the programs go dry...a couple of years ago, UT had ZERO players drafted...that's unthinkable but it happened...Herman has his work cut out for him

Urban "get me out of the SEC" Meyer said what?

Worst job of coaching in history was Meyer in 2009. Even Muschamp with Nuss as OC would have won the national title that year, with that roster.

Urban Liar is what the UF fans call him now. Fake health issues and lack of time with his family to resign at UF then immediately starts working at ESPN. Some serious beef between his former OC (Herman) we are not privy to.

So those weren't Saban's players that Miles won with? That'll piss off the rant.

Recruiting speak, nothing to see. Makes it sound like he is a players coach first and southern coaches are nun beaters.

Urban Meyer is the one who faked a health problem in order to leave florida in a hurry. I think he found out about his star player (TE Hernandez) being in serious gang trouble and departed on the next flight out.

Funny how he says this, but Muschamp isn't on public record anywhere criticizing the talent level of the program he took over from Meyer, but Meyer himself is the one that publicly stated the UF program's culture was "broken". And those were the kids MEYER HIMSELF recruited to UF. What a wet steamy vagina of a man....

At what point did Herman blame the inherited players? I didnt see it at all! I think what Herman was trying to say what don't expect overnight results from a team that had a horrible record last year... its a working progress

Herman's pixie dust comment is pretty clearly a way of saying, "hey, I got nothing to work with". I mean, how else do you take it?
user avatar

I disagree... I dont think hes blaming his players... I think hes saying the old way of coaching didnt work and dont expected overnight results

Many of Urban's former players prefer angel dust to pixie.
