Whether it is football or running a company, you have to pay if you want to be competitive. Take the average cost of a ticket to one LSU home game, multiply that by 100,000 (2321 less than the amount of seats in tiger stadium), and without even adding the amount of money that is made from parking passes & concessions, the revenue from one home game is enough to pay the HC annual salary. I know it doesn't exactly work that way (his salary doesn't come directly from revenue from the game), but in 2015 LSU lost $28.7M from the sports that do not generate a revenue, but still made over $12M. So yeah, it's important that the football program remains a top tier program And to do so, you have to pay.. So if you are upset that someone who "just coaches football" makes a lot more than you, then become a coach.
