Former LSU star and current SEC Network Analyst Marcus Spears was on The Paul Finebaum Show Monday and said it's time for Tigers to make a change at head coach.

Spears was calling for Les Miles' job after LSU's 16-14 loss to unranked Wisconsin in the season opener this past Saturday. Per Saturday Down South:
quote:

“More than anything, it might be time for a change at LSU,” Spears said. “I’m calling it. I know a lot of people say, ‘Don’t get caught up on the one-game scenario.’ The issue for LSU is that with the ending of last season and how tumultuous that was, and then you go into (an) offseason and all the talk being about what are you going to do offensively to showcase these guys on the field. And nothing changed in the first game of the season.”

When Finebaum pressed Spears about potentially overreacting to just one game, he said: “It’s not one game. I made that mistake and said, ‘It’s one game,’ after I saw the loss. But then I think back to what this issue was. The issue can’t be the same from last year. … It’s time for a new coach.”

Gosh, I like Les the man. Having said that, I like the tigers more. This "offense problem" was supposed to be addressed in the off-season, and we were hoping and rooting for Les to get it right this year. I am seeing the same old predictable vanilla offense and I know if I can see it, other teams we play are seeing the same. There is no excuse this time for Les....what a waste of talent. Brandon Harris should be completing short passes by 90% or more, he is only about 40%....Why????? More changes than Miles must be considered...

IJS. Les has won some games but I think it was by fortune. As a native La, guy I live in the ATX and I witnessed a Les coached Oklahoma State team go up on Texas 2 years in a row 35-7 going into the 4th QTR. NewsFlash they lost both games. Les is a great guy, I can imagine he may even be a players coach. He lacks trust or perhaps he's unwilling to give up control to his OC to really open things up. I'm not so sure that Cameron is capable.

Spears is spot on Les can't get it done. Dinosaur offense. National sports media laugh at LSU. Time to move on.

Spears never shoots a line of BS- he says what he feels. But when he's fed up, that says something about the current state of affairs.

Un les he runs the table and makes the playoff, I agree with the great Marcus. So disappointing to see how little progression Harris has made, looks like a freshman. The stage is too big for Harris in light of all the Freshmen starting at other schools, FSU and Texas, our qb isn't in their zip code. Shame but true.

I was on the Les train, now I agree with Spears. The "O" with all of those weapons scored a grand total of 7 points.

Lsu has lost 4 out of the last 5 games they've played in, with this "offensive scheme". So it is not just one game like every one is saying.

4 of 6 if you want to be accurate. That's still not good.

Marcus Spears is spot on with his analysis. He love LSU and only wants what is best for the program. Should have been done last year but definitely needs to be done if we start off 2-3 which I unfortunately believe will be our record after losses to Auburn and Florida.

How the hell you know he "loves" LSU? He wants attention, gets his ratings up.

Marcus Spears played for LSU as well as the NFL. He bleeds purple and Gold. I think he knows what he's talking about.

If Chip Kelly would have gotten fired two weeks sooner, he would be LSUs head coach right now. The problem is, who do we get to replace Miles. There really isn't anyone out there. Les isn't the reason we recruit great players. We recruit great players because of our assistant coaches. Guys want to be trained by our assistants. That's why they go on to have long careers in the league. Les is the reason why they don't win titles at the college level. Every year it's the same old thing. Most talented team with a head coach who finds a way to lose...

I like Houston's HC. How do you get him? You gotta have him in the bag before you give Les the can. And you gotta make sure the assistant coaches are on board because guys like coach O are the reason LSU gets such great talent every year. Alot of pieces have to fall into place.

I agree that Les needs to go, but how much would that help us as far as this year goes? I just feel that it would discourage the team and I don't know who else would fill in the HC position. Any opinions on this?

Les will not be fired unless we have a losing record anytime after the 4th game. 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, etc.
