Another coach was hired some years ago from a Big 10 school that had performed only decently, in order to try and resurrect a floundering SEC program with a rich history. As I recall, that worked out fairly well. A coach can only do what the available talent permits him to do. Lighten up....
How does the comparison work when it's 'Bama vs. Auburn. Or Tennessee. Or Mississippi State? Is it a pro-Bama bias or an anti-LSU bias? Your data is insufficient to justify any conclusion. ...
Texas is slipping
Has slipped
USC is slipping
Yep--until it hires an adult as a coack
Michigan is slipping
Disagree. On its way back.
LSU is rising
Already risen...
I just don't understand why we're supposed to be satisfied with mediocrity because we were awful 20 years ago.
I think you made the case against your position with the use of that one word. You define LSU's performance over the last 5 years as "mediocrity"? If so, th...
The312
It will be interesting to see who actually reads your thoughtful and mature analysis, and who decides it has too many hard words, prepositional phrases and commas to be taken seriously. FWIW, I agree with you. ...
the so-called "negatigers" were the fans that said "frick this shite" and stopped going to home games in the hallman era and forced joe dean's hand to fire him ... then the "negatigers" did the same to gerry dinardo after his brilliant replacements of carl reese and morris watts ... so, in ess...
And people wonder why no one reads newspapers anymore.
Putting aside the problem that newspapers have become, even on their "news" pages, apologists for whatever political point of view will boost their readership, people don't read "good" newspapers because they can't be bothered...
One of the things that jumped out at me was his use of the word "decadence" to describe the state of LSU football in the 90s.
I agree that Warner is in over his head when he tries to write a piece in this style. However, what I don't agree with is that there is no value to sports...
that was a good idea to edited out that poorly constructed sentence !
:rotflmao:...
Any basic composition teacher will tell you that if you can convey your message in fewer words, then so much the better. Spouting off ten dollars words might sound impressive to some people, but when you can get your point across in a simpler manner and don't, it comes across as bloviating. [...
Warner isn't writing a sports story. He's writing an editorial opinion piece--perhaps the last bastion of moderately erudite writing in what's left of the journalism profession. Students in "The Paper Chase" were in law school at Harvard. They didn't write term papers, at least not in Kingsle...
stop trying to write like him while googling "8 syllable words to take the place of much easier 3 syllable words"
Yet more evidence that American society--with folks like you leading the charge--is thundering downward in search of the lowest common denominator....
If he expects to (or has a want) end up in more desirable Bowl games he had better change his offensive mentality.
Absolutely. To hell with all this "run, run, run" crap. Air it out on every down. Run Statue of Liberty plays, and double or triple reverses with a pass/lateral optio...
the best team you have ever had 1959, almost lost to a mediocre clemson team
That was 1958 (January 1, 1959). Clemson was relevant then. That was 54 years ago. Whenever you have to go back more than about 4 months to find something to argue from, you've lost already. [i][Edited ...
