re: Let the fun begin | LeBron to opt out - scottynola
Sounds like a terrible analysis
Why terrible? The Rockets and Celtics have cap space and star players to match him with, and he's already in Miami. Why wouldn't they be logical destinations? Not trying to argue, just curious about your logic here. This is a more entertaining topic ...

re: Underrated Recruit That LSU Missed Out On Recently That You Really Wanted - scottynola
He wasn't underrated and it's been a few years but one guy I wonder about sometimes is Akiem Hicks. His recruitment blew up and he ended up in Canada, but from the way he looks in the NFL he would have been a big time player at LSU. Always need another great D-Lineman you know. ...

re: how can u not want to play for DBU,DLU, RBU... - scottynola
I don't want to play there, but at my age and physical condition those young bucks would kill me! Seriously though, I think the NFL track record and the playing true freshman track record are LSU's 2 best arguments for out of state recruits....

re: Joker Phillips Out at UF. Possible recruiting violation. - scottynola
I've always imagined that if LSU would hire Ed O that he would do something like this, intentionally.
Ed O. would never get busted on something smalltime like this. He'd be photographed delivering the kid a brand new Camaro with a suitcase full of cash in the trunk at the very leas...

What went wrong with the Heat? - scottynola
I tried to organize my thoughts in the linked post, I wonder what other people feel. Seeing a 2 time defending champ unravel like that was certainly a unique experience for me. [link=(http://backgrinder.com/2014/06/16/nba-finals-miami-heat-edition/)]NBA Finals Are Over: Miami Heat Edition[/link]...

First Donald Sterling, but who is next? - scottynola
Interesting thought, if the NBA is passing out lifetime bans for racist remarks who is eligible to be banned and who will get the next ban? [link=(http://backgrinder.com/2014/04/30/one-question-adam-silver-whos-next/)]Who's Next?[/link]...

Jim Mora Coaching Tree - scottynola
I wrote a blog post today, part of a series of coaches who succeeded without sticking to a single system. I included Mora because he won in New Orleans with a great defense and so-so offense, and in Indy with a great offense and so-so defense. One item I mentioned was the number of future head coach...

re: Should we?? Alex Mack - Center - scottynola
The only way for this to happen is to negotiate a sign and trade type arrangement with the Browns. Some think that is against the NFL rules, not technically, the Patriots worked out something like that with the Dolphins for Welker a few years ago. Basically the Saints would have to negotiate a deal ...

re: Updated CNNSI Mock Draft - scottynola
If Mosley can be that fast LB who can range the middle of the field and cover TE's and backs on passing routes then I am all for it. We desperately need someone like that. But I'll be happy with a CB or WR....

re: Four more players leave football team. How many scholarships do we have now? - scottynola

re: Four more players leave football team. How many scholarships do we have now? - scottynola
I saw that on NOLA.com and came over here to check and see if anyone had comments on how it might effect recruiting. It opens up extra scholly's, and I think this is a good sign. I kind of read the tea leaves on which athletes are being recruited heavily, and compare that to remaining scholly's a l...

re: What gets a guy to the NFL? (Nature vs Nurture) - scottynola
Coaching only gets you so far, imo. Same with nature, honestly. If you look at NFL players they all have the genetic potential to develop the kind of bodies the NFL requires. Of all the guys with this DNA, of the ones who actually play in HS, excel, work out, and get enough exposure to get into foot...

re: LSU, Launching pad for NFL, recruiting tool but, leaving early just ain't cool! - scottynola
The best athletes can go three and out. If you want LSU to have the best athletes, then expect more three and outs. It should be a point of pride that we get more guys to the NFL quicker than other teams, and as a result there are more opportunities for talented young players to get on the field an...
