You can get a copy of all 3 credit reports once a year for free here: https://www.annualcreditreport.com Don't close the accounts out as this will have a negative impact on her score. Also, it might work out best to make 2 payments on the cards to boost the score. Pay down the utilization on...

Wait to file the ammended tax after your original has been processed. If you file before this, your tax return will be flagged and it is a long process. I filed in February last year and ammended mine 2 days later and I did not get my refund until October. ...

I don't know the answer to this but I do know that if you are expecting a refund and you file an ammended return right now that your refund will be held up for quite a while. I did an ammended return 2 days after I filed my taxes last year in February of last year and I got my refund in October....

I amended ours on 03/01/2012 (they owed us money) and I got the refund ib September. It seems that there are several steps in processing an amended return. When I called to check on ours in late May, they said it had been stamped received and would be 4-8 weeks longer. When I called back ...
