re: Best place to stay while in Natchitoches - elpolloloco
Church Street Inn is downtown. There are also a ton of B&B options - Judge Porter House is nice (and right across from the KA house - LOL). The Cabin on the Cane is on the river and across the bridge from downtown. If you want something out of town, the Cane River Cottage and Guesthouse would be ...

re: Florida man arrested for having sex with his pit bull in front of neighbors - elpolloloco
I find it disturbing that you put the victim's photo out there for everyone to see. Responsible journalism says you should at least blur the picture to protect the victim's identity....

re: Help me understand international mission work - elpolloloco
I agree with you on short term mission work being a good option. My wife and I go on a short term trip each year with our Church (Baptist). However, our Church wants persons going on the trip that are active with a ministry within the Church here. If you aren't being faithful in serving locally, ...

re: 88th Annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival - elpolloloco
Just some info to consider in making your decision - they only have the parade on the first Saturday of December. Also, the fireworks show is the longest on this Saturday. It is very nice the other weekends and there is less of a crowd than the big weekend. Church Street Inn or a B&B downtown w...

re: 88th Annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival - elpolloloco
If you take the the Cypress/Flora exit, be careful coming north on Hwy 1. They have a new police chief in the Village of Natchez and they are seeking to increase their income. You can go to the next exit - Exit 132 - and cut over to Hwy 1 and avoid the speed trap. Parking should be easier on thi...

re: 88th Annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival - elpolloloco
There are also a ton of B&B's around downtown. You might not have any luck with it being so close. There are a couple of other low end options for hotels that would require a good walk, but I would not recommend these. Several hotel options at the I-49 exit, but they may be booked up....

re: 88th Annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival - elpolloloco
Above is the schedule for this Saturday that we are thinking about maybe going to.
I would suggest arriving as early as you can if you decide to come. Parking/traffic can get a little crazy as the day goes on - small town and a lot of streets in the downtown area will be closed on...

re: Dumbest prediction you've ever made? - elpolloloco
Northwestern State vs. NLU (now ULM) in 1987. NSU had just taken the lead after being down big in the first half and kicked off to NLU. My prediction was "82 yards in 8 seconds with no timeouts...it's impossible." I was soon to learn that it was indeed possible....

re: Is American Culture Progressing or Devolving? - elpolloloco
I think it is both. Pros: People generally appear more willing to help the needy and donate their time/money and less racism. Cons: Education is going down the toilet and what some people consider entertainment - i.e. reality shows, etc. on TV - makes me scratch my head sometimes....

re: Nick Swisher is a cool motherfricker - elpolloloco
He is a good guy in my opinion. Went to see the Rangers/Yankees in Arlington with a big group a few years ago when he played for the Yanks. Some people in our group were Yankee fans and one of the mothers was asking him for baseballs for her kids when he was shagging flies during batting practice....
