Haven’t had many chances to hunt (3)

Got two gobbling 200 yards north and 100 yards south and came up empty handed. Lord knows I was six to midnight. Never been in that situation.

Makes me sad knowing it’s coming to an end and I didn’t get all the hunts I planned for.

Had a new baby in November.

Anyway

Cheers to a good last weekend for everyone in MS. Hope they are sounding off.

PS: I’m waking up at 2:30am to drive two and a half hours to give them one more try.

Wife isn’t happy but she doesn’t get it.

Thankfully my MIL stepped up and is watching one of the three boys tonight

My buddy got a couple at my place. They quit gobbling a couple weeks ago in SE MS. I aint mad, i usually see dozens in deer season and none in the spring...maybe next year.

Good luck!

We had a great season this year, and I was lucky enough to get to make a couple of decent trips up there.

My son went with a friend this morning (in TN) and was able to get his 1st bird. His buddy got one as well.

Struck out but had him gobbling in the high wind.

Cut the distance and silence. Waited…..used wingbone as we are about to leave and he gobbles louder than we’d heard all morning.

Then he stopped and we moved closer down a ridge and saw him walking in front of a hen. Couldn’t get a shot.

Pretty cool hunt though

That’s what it’s all about. Nice to see someone enjoy the day without harvesting. Not everyone can do that. Congrats to you!!

The one I killed today only gobbled 1x. Just gotta go every time you can. Every day is different.

Yeah the first hunting season with an infant hit here too. Was able to get a great gobbler in early March. Had another at 6 steps last weekend but couldn’t swing to get the shot. All in all super fun abbreviated season

Just keep going. She’ll get used to it eventually. Took my wife a couple years but now she doesn’t even ask if I’m going. She just assumes I am.

I am absolutely below my bag limit as of today. I hunt multiple states and I don’t always shoot. Have someone else with me 1/3 the time. Also, this year has been slow for me. Had some strange things happen, as well as some screw ups that cost me turkeys. Missed one, tried to do something dumb on another, and haven’t been hunting every single day like usual due to work.

Wrapping up the season today. Took my neighbors boy yesterday as little hammer is in concussion protocol. Not a lot of gobbles but got one to come in and do the deal and my youth couldn’t get his gun off safely in the excitement. I ended up shooting him as he was running away.

Hopefully we can find another one for him this morning. Either way was a fun season. I had multiple kids kill one and I actually shot one. (I much prefer someone else to shoot these days just like to call, listen and watch most of the time)

Same here. He must be a good luck charm though. Limited out in MS and killed one in LA as well.

this was my first turkey season ever. i learned alot. i learned about their behavior, calling, patterning a shotgun, alot for a simple novice.

My last hunt of the year i had 2 gobbling back and forth...one to my front (about 150 yards away) and one to my right (about 100 yards away). it was so cool just listening to them. one to my right was getting closer and closer and closer and the adrenaline rush i had setting up my gun just waiting for him to come out was FAR greater than the biggest buck i have ever killed. sadly, he never came out (i believe he had a hen with him because i heard some yelping too) and i heard his gobbles sound like they were going away. it was so much fun and i cant wait for next year
