The 18 minute l thing started 8/1. Not sure there are actually signs. I think they are just electronically enforcing the speed limit that has been in place.

It also got some sort of special designation that requires signage so that they can double the fines for getting the speeding tickets.

There's a state law that requires signs warning of camera/electronic speed ticketing.

The actual cameras?

No, and from the sound of it, its going to be a minute.

If you get caught speeding though, fines I think are double.

18-mile bridge traveling
- 60 mph = 18 minutes
- 70 mph = 15 min 26 sec.
- 75 mph = 14 min 24 sec.

I'll drive 60 for 3+ minutes to avoid the $500 fine.
I agree it's a bunch of gov't BS and a money grad

To understand, there will be a time limit from point A to point B and if you are scanned under 18 minutes, you're deemed a speeder and fines are double? Close?

The only thing up right now is that the tickets are doubled. No cameras yet.

I timed it last week and crossed in 14:20 mins. Couldn’t imaging driving much slower than that but guess I won’t have a choice. Drove early in the morning and late at night and didn’t see any signs.

You dont have to pay it

The speed signs are up and the safety district signs are up but no cameras.
Cars 60 mph, Trucks 55 mph. "Trucks stay in Right Lane" are all posted prominently.

I drove it just last week twice. I went 59 mph and came in at just over 18 minutes. It's some bullshite that cars will be fined for going 5 mph over 60.

What they need to do is have cameras that detect trucks in the left lane and fine them mfers. If trucks went 55 and stayed in the right lane the entire Basin, we'd see most of these major delays disappear.
It'll be impossible to control the actions of millions of individual car drivers.
But trucking companies will make their drivers pay the fines if driving company owned trucks. That's where the solution lies.

So how does this work for out of state people just passing thru? I would imagine there will be a ton of them speeding with no clue about tickets from being timed.
