The only time I watch soccer is during the World Cup.

Never kept one as a pet but I did have a wild one come sleep on my patio furniture almost every night and eat old leftovers I'd throw out by the fence.

Another poster recommended going to Pensacola or Navarre and driving between them to the wide open, empty beach. I'd recommend this as well if you want a good beach with as few people as possible. I'm not sure there's another option, to be honest.
