Tennessee WR DeAnthony Arnett said Thursday he wants to be released to transfer closer to his ill father in Saginaw, Mich. His father has had two heart attacks, dialysis and a series of surgeries. In an email to ESPN, Arnett said...

"I want to play football but I NEED to be here for my Dad and with my family," "Coach Dooley, myself or anybody doesn't know what the future holds for my father," Arnett said in the email. "I feel that I represented the University of Tennessee the best way I can on and off the field and I feel I have earned the right to be released unconditional to all schools in Michigan."
As a true freshman this season, Arnett had 24 catches for 242 yards and two touchdowns. He was one of the highest-rated prospects in coach Derek Dooley's 2011 recruiting class and was ranked in the ESPNU150.

I'm a Vol fan and can see both sides. Dooley and Co. have policies that they follow in these types of situations. It's in their best interests to protect and do what is best for their program. Arnett's Dad was sick when he signed with Tennessee and I think that the only reason he is trying to leave is because he came to UT to play for Charlie Baggett and now that Baggett is gone, he doesn't want to be here. Dooley offered him a way to go closer to home and play D1 football. Also heard that his hardship waiver has been denied anyways.

God bless him and his dad. Do the right thing and let him go, Tennessee.

They need to do the right thing and that kid go and be with his father. If I was a recruit and saw they did not release him I wouldn't ever consider playing there.
