A report on Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan on Tuesday afternoon states that the Browns will make a hard push for Alabama coach Nick Saban, even though incumbent Pat Shurmur is only in his second season with the team. Tennessee alum Jimmy Haslam was approved as the Browns’ new owner on Tuesday, and the team almost immediately announced that team president Mike Holmgren would be “retiring” at the end of the season and be replaced by former Philadelphia Eagles president Joe Banner.

He will never make it in the NFL. He doesn't do well when the other teams are paying players also.

This would be an epic meltdown in the state of Alabama.

You would have gumps jumping from bridges and buildings on his departure. Every redneck will have Nick's blown back hairstyle topped with Bear Bryants hat. Geaux Gumps!

if he goes there, it will be pure ego, prove he can make it

As an LSU fan...I remember buying into the "Saban is never going anywhere" rhetoric as well.

Saban? They must be shooting for a 6 win season.

if you are a Tide fan you have to be a little worried about this. You can try to hide it all you want and say he has the best job and this and that, but you really just don't know.

I could see him wanting to take another crack at it - ego, legacy, etc

Can't see it happening; but I would love a front row seat at the state line as the Gumps lose their minds! One can only imagine the suicide/homicide rate would sky rocket along with the DUI rate quadrupeling!

Is this a joke. A radio station called the fan said this? It must be true.

Texas is a better job. Easier path to the title. More resources. Better town. No state income tax. I hope they throw $8mil per year at him.

he used to coach there under Bellicheck. I could see him going back, but I doubt it.

Nicky becomes a Brown noser. John L. Smith will replace Nicky. He already hinted that in a news conference when he referred to the Razorbacks as the state of Alabama. Then, Nicky and Trent Richardson will challenge LSU to another rematch, but this time on Cleveland's field. LSU wins 21-0. Nicky then takes the head coaching job at Auburn.

I don't think he goes back to the NFL. He's not used to dealing with a salary cap.

Don't fool yourself, Saban is a challenge driven type of person. If he were to win another BCSNC this year, that would be 3 of the last 4, and 4 in his last 8 yrs of College FB. If it gets that easy for him, don't you think it will eat at him that he didn't succeed in the NFL. It will. Having said that, don't think he would leave for Cleveland. Dallas, Pitt., New England, Green Bay probrably. It would have to be somewhere that he really feels he would be given every opportunity to succeed.
