During a stop in Tulsa during the Sooner Caravan tour, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops made some comments about the SEC. Per the Tulsa World, Stoops had the following to say...
quote:

“So they’ve had the best team in college football,” Stoops said. “They haven’t had the whole conference. Because, again, half of ‘em haven’t done much at all. I’m just asking you. You tell me.”

“It depends on who you want to listen to,” Stoops said. “Listen, they’ve had the best team in college football, meaning they’ve won the national championship. That doesn’t mean everything else is always the best.”

“So you’re listening to a lot of propaganda that gets fed out to you,” he said. “You’re more than smart enough to figure it out. Again, you can look at the top two, three, four, five, six teams, and you can look at the bottom six, seven, eight, whatever they are. How well are they all doing?

“What’d we (the Big 12) have, eight of 10 teams in bowl games this year? Again, you figure it all out.”

SEC definitely getting under his skin

That was a comment aimed squarely at his dwindling recruiting base. The big recruits wanna play with the big boys and Big Game Bob is tired of hearing about the SEC. DEAL WIDDIT!

Stoops: "A&M is just another Big 12 team"

Result: A&M holds Oklahoma to their lowest point total of the season and scores the third most points Oklahoma has allowed all season while beating them by their largest margin of defeat by far the entire season...all in the metro area that OU absolutely has to recruit well in to keep their recruiting base from crumbling.

SEC not impressed with Oklahoma.

In the BCS era OU is 1-4 in bowl games to the SEC including 2 national championship losses.

1999-Ole Miss 27 OU 25
2002-OU 10 Arkansas 3
2004-LSU 21 OU 14
2008-Florida 24 OU 14
2013-A&M 41 OU 13

I would bet on Mississippi State, Vandy, and Kentucky over the likes of Texas Tech, Kansas, and Iowa State!

Hey Bob, you had a chance to bring OU to the SEC and didnt. Guess you didnt want to have your arse handed to you on a regular basis. We play big boy football here in the SEC

I started to list all the big games that Choklahoma lost, but the source of Stoops' butt hurt is too vast.

Get over it, Stoops.

Kinda can't argue with the bowl game fact. Anyone who says the SEC isn't the best football conference has an agenda. What do you want him to say though?

In his defense he's been around long enough to know the cyclical nature of college football...his perspective is coming from someone whose been materially connected to football longer than most of our attention spans can handle.

And took a beating from the Fighting Amish who Alabama then dismantled... He knows which conference is best, he's trying to be politically correct.
