Mammoth caves is what you're looking for. It's in Kentucky, though, so it's a good drive away.

Florida Caverns State Park in Mariana, FL isn't too far from Baton Rouge (5 hours maybe) and I've heard it's pretty good.

From a web image search:

Lol, you gotta be drunk because I've never seen you post something like this. Lol, so awesome.

Yeah the caves in Marianna, Fl are supposed to be good but I'm not sure I'd make a vacation out of it.

Those Arkansas caves look legit though.

This isn't in the south, but it's well worth posting. Top 5 things I've done in my life I think and I got to do it with my wife on our honey moon and wasn't expecting it to be much:

The Arkansas caves are. They are administered by the forest service and there are three trails through the caves. I'm surprised more people haven't visited from here

Visited Luray Caverns in Virginia a few weeks ago. Very interesting if you're in the area - hardly worth a destination however.

The Lost Sea in Sweetwater, Tennessee is pretty cool. It is also fairly close to Gatlinburg and the Smokies to make it worth the trip.

Good for you then, I apologize. Haha, comment just seemed out of left field but solid none the less.

I second Blanchard Springs in Arkansas. I went there several times as a kid, and took my 2 children a couple years ago.

Really nice cave formations and the area around there is very scenic as well.

I can recommend Blanchard Springs as well. They are also close to the Buffalo river if you want to rent a cabin somewhere. Also, fantastic driving roads through the mountains if you're into that type of thing.

12pence nailed. mammoth is great.

cumberland is fantastic for a caver. you can literally go underground for days at a time spelunking if you have the guts to do it. i am way too claustrophobic to handle that but i have lots of friends into it and they love it.

but for a family...i think you can't go wrong with ruby falls in chattanooga. you get both a caving adventure with the family thats not too strenuous (1 mile or so) with THE BEST PAYOFF EVER at the end. i would do this one over mammoth or cumberland.
