Family member getting married in vegas soon. No one to leave kids with. Trying to decide if I should go with kids or just not go at all. Is there anything at all I could do with them once the 5 minute ceremony is over? Date set for November so I assume pool time is a negative.

Tons of stuff for kids in Vegas. Where are you staying? Its been awhile since I've been, but there a lot of the hotels have kids activities where you can drop them off.

If its a family member that lives there, ask if they know a babysitter?

in the 80s, they tried turning Vegas into a family destination suitable for young kids(see excalibur, etc.). They've gone away from this, and have turned it into a destination for young adults (night/day club explosion).

There will be stuff to entertain young kids, but it's either off the beaten path, or you will need to go to the lower budget hotels like excalibur or circus circus. Don't expect to find anything amusing for them at Cosmo, Wynn, Aria or any of the other 5 star places. You are correct, the pools will be closed in November.

Even just wandering the strip won't be enjoyable with your young kids. It's a complete shite show with drunk idiots.

You can bring the kids, but just plan to spend the entire time catering to them.

I took mine around that age last year. We stayed at New York New York. There is an awesome arcade inside, and of course the rollercoaster. There is a Hershey's world there as well, and M&M and Coke stores across the street. Take them to see Blue Man Group in the Luxor, we had a blast, and mine still talk about that show. We did the high roller, but it was kind of boring, and the kids didn't really care about the view. You can also look into Ethel M's garden. It is about 20 mins outside of town, but it is run by the Mars family who created M&M's. They have a chocolate shop and cool things for the kids to do. And of course a day trip to Hoover Dam is always fun.

Lots of people thought I was crazy for taking my kids to Vegas, but we had a great time. Go for it!

Thanks! They would love all of that! My oldest has seen blue man group at the beau but it's been a while. And I'm sure the show there is 100 times better anyway.

Believe me I don't want to go at all. Definitely not my idea. I feel like I should since it's an immediate family member getting married but can't leave my kids home. So, it's either all of us go or none of us.

Besides the stuff that is mentioned on the strip, look into stuff in the surrounding areas (ex: Summerlin and Henderson). I have friends (two married couples) that live in the Vegas area(one just recently moved there a year ago from Louisiana). They both have children(ranging in ages 2-13) and are always posting fun things they do with their kids in the area.

Look into taking a drive to the Red Rock Canyon. Really pretty up there. Lots of different hiking trails (some easy enough to bring kids on, my friend has 3 kids with the youngest being 2 and they go all the time). Or if hiking isn't your thing, just driving through the park is fun...lots of scenic spots you can stop at to take pictures. Also, before you get to the park is a western type town(Bonnie Springs Ranch) that looks like kids would love.

My,at the time, 5 year old stepson loved KA (cirque du soleil). Probably would have liked mystere too, but that was an adult trip. He also thoroughly enjoyed the free pirate show at treasure island. ?? We took him to bellagio to see the water show.
