Found a good restaurant recently, Big Fish. Fresh fish dishes with a Thai twist and also a good sushi chef.

Had a nice meal at Fisher's recently. For Orange Beach, it's "high end", but service and food were excellent in my one experience.

I also like Moe's BBQ for a quick lunch or to-go. The Gulf is great for all ages. Go before 6 to beat the crowds.

Stop at Blalock's and buy two containers of smoked tuna dip. Make sure you have some crackers.

tuna dip

I'm glad you brought this up because I was racking my brain trying to think of something really notable about Orange Beach other than, well, going to the beach. I really like crab dip which normally has cream cheese as its key ingredient and I get mine at Lartigue's Seafood Market which is right on Perdido Beach Blvd. on the north side of the road. They have other good foods as well. You can get a sleeve or two of saltine crackers to go with the dip. It's so good I'll pack some in an ice chest and take it with me for the eight hour trek back home.

It seems to me that the prices of beach hotels just keep going up and up although I suppose it is all about supply and demand. We usually will rent a house through Meyer Vacation Rentals although most of them are located in Fort Morgan but you may find some you can rent in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Zeke's Marina is a good place to go out on a fishing boat and one of my favorite things to do is to go out in the Gulf and catch some red snapper which you can cook if you have access to a deep fryer--I just take one with me to have one on hand.

I like night fishing from the shore where I'll usually catch some sea catfish and an occasional stingray.

This. Had my fair share two weeks ago. Also try the West Indies crab dip from Blalocks, and buy extra crab meat to drop in there.
