Looking for suggestions. GF and I are going there for a long weekend.

Was up in that area last september for a wedding. If you have time to get out of providence, I'd suggest going to newport. It's wonderful there in late spring/summer/early fall so not sure how it'd be right now, but plenty of little bars/taverns, newport storm brewery, think there's a winery around?

Definitely hit Newport and spend the day if you have time.

As others suggested head out to Newport. Was there this past weekend for my cousins wedding. Beautiful scenery, tons of bars, shops, and cafe's in their downtown. A bunch of marina front shops and cafe's. Certainly enough to spend a day on.

We went back in September for 2 days. 1 day in Providence and 1 day in Newport.
I definitely recommend Enoteca Umberto in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Parking is terrible up there, but it was an incredible meal. Small place (maybe 10 tables) run by a guy straight from Italy.
We visited The Breakers during our day in Newport. I definitely recommend checking as many of the mansions as you could. We got lunch to go at Rosemary and Thyme. 45 min wait, so we went and walked around. They texted us when it was ready. We ate dinner at The Mooring, but it wasn't anything special.
Hope y'all enjoy!

it's been some time since I've been up there, but Thayer Street is the main stretch near Brown. I'm not sure how old you are, but as a college kid, I was impressed with what it had to offer. I liked the area around Brown in general. Downtown was pretty nice and walkable, especially around the river.

Great restaurant town. A bunch by federal hill. Some others around town. My favorites include Alforno's (sp?), mills tavern, 10, hemingways.
