Things to do in Jamaica

Going on the Honeymoon there in a few weeks and staying at the Sandals in Ocho Rios.
Any suggestions on what to do/avoid while there?
I've heard Dunn's River Falls is a popular attraction. Any others?

There's not too much reason to leave the resort other than to eat at other resorts.
We did the falls. It's ok. People on here bitch about the local market, but my wife and I never felt uncomfortable. They will bargain and we found some deals on some non-touristy goods. We ate at one local place recommended by a concierge. No idea what it was, but I had some really good oxtails.
Oh...we did ride horses for about 4-5 hours one day. That was pretty damn awesome riding through the Jamaican countryside with a guide. Found some farms and local stores in the countryside that were very hospitable. Shared the local "product" and some food. Didn't charge us anything, but we tipped them well.
Otherwise, just enjoy the resort. That resort beach is very nice (if small), and you can go to a different resort one day for a different beach experience. Keep the free Appleton rum drinks coming and chill.

No way in hell I would go to Jamaica and stay on the resort grounds.
Too many records to find, and too much goat curry to eat. Patties and callaloo galore. It ain't for the weak of heart, but why not just go to Sandestin? That resort stuff is as fake as it gets.

we did the falls too, its pretty cool. Yes, the locals will have their tents/shops set up with things for sale. Yes, they are pushy salesmen to the tourists. But they do have some cool things (carvings, walking sticks, pipes, etc)
they carve a lot of mahagony... I got a cool Bob Marley face carving and some King and Queen chess piece looking things personalized with our wedding date and names in it...
Definitely bring your Haggling skills--you can talk down the price point significantly.
(on our bus ride back to Sandals, one guy had paid $25 more than the other guy for the exact same walking stick..)
We also took the 40 foot Catamaran booze cruise that docked at Jimmy Buffet Margarativille. This was cool. the sail of course, the bar had a pool/waterfall, and the drinks were flowing around the pool. (many of those shots were free for the ladies). This excursion also offered some local shopping, although we stayed at Buffet's until it was time to set sail back.
There is also another excursion we did with a rafting/tubing type deal where you took a small van up into the mountains and rafted/tubed the river. at the end was a crystal blue lagoon area and a rope swing to take the plunge.
Who knew in the middle of this huge remote bamboo jungle that we were being filmed and pictures of course could be purchased of yourself swinging and rafting...
(I would also not recommend and "self-touring". Do not leave the all-inclusive grounds unless on an approved sponsored excursion, or you may not return. And stay away from Kingston)

We did Dunns Rivers Falls, it was pretty cool. The salesman on the way our are very pushy so if you don't want to buy anything just keep walking. We also did the ski-lift bobsled thing right next door which was also pretty cool.
Some friends of ours toured the Appleton Estate and they enjoyed it.
Everyone drives like they are on their way to see their mother take her last breath. I pulled a 4" swatch of material off of the bus seat from squenching my arse cheeks. It's an interesting ride to say the least.

Dunn's River Falls is definitely a fun excursion.
Ricks Cafe is good as well, but if you are staying in Ocho, it's completely on the opposite side of the island so I doubt it would be worth it. It's worth the trip if you decide to stay in Montego Bay or Negril.
The wife and I also did some kind of glowing lagoon excursion at night but it was definitely not worth doing and I would not recommend it.
I have not played the White Witch, but the Sandals course was fun for me.
And drink lots of rum. I recommend that.

This man gets it. If your'e not going to stay inside a resort, though, then your'e best off getting off the beaten path to a less touristy area than Ocho or Negril. Somewhere like Treasure Beach on the south coast. There the people don't depend on aggressively predatory behavior toward tourists, and you get a sense of what the real Jamaica is all about.
Jake's Resort down in Treasure Beach is great. I also love Ital Rest. It's basically a rasta commune that serves as a B&B.
And forget the curried goat. I be eatin' da salt fish n ackee, mon.
