I have not been there in a long, long time but was my favorite. Go in October like the first week. Now that's when they used to cut the rates in half. The weather is great and the beach is not crowded. We got a big room right on the beach. Like I said its been a long time but I would like to go back sometime.

In peak summer days, traffic is absolutely terrible, but you should be fine in April. We go there pretty much every year since I was a little kid, but I really do love it. It holds a special place in my heart with many great memories. It's extremely family friendly, lots of stuff to do there, and very nice beaches for being within reasonable distance. Best beaches in northwestern Florida.

Same here. It's not horrible. But it's not great either. It's a nicer gulf shores. Maybe it's just because my family went to Ft Walton every single year until I was 12 (Destin was just getting big). Or maybe it's because my FIL worked there for a while so we had a free condo any time we wanted. But it's just not something I want to do when I think of planning a trip. It came up for a trip we are taking in April. Decided to go to The Keys instead. We don't really need the typical beach as long as there's a scenic place for me to drink outside.
I do admit 30a is nice. It gets knocked because of the stickers, but it is nice. Also expensive.

We usually hit Destin/sandestin/30A in some combination 3-4 times a year. It has its pros and cons but for a long weekend or week long trip it works for us.

You a goofball it doesnt blow at all. Very family friendly place, golfing for the guys, shopping for the females, water park for the kids, and good fishing. You must hate life.
