Never been there but thinking of spending a few days maybe next April. Is there an area that is considered more family friendly?

Also is it trashy?

It isn't as good as Sandestin.

Sandestin isn't as good as 30A.

Basically the more exclusive it seems the better.

It's great.

Pretty much all family friendly besides maybe the Whale's Tail area during Spring Break but you'll be fine in April.

Not trashy at all

When it comes to Florida beaches I prefer south Florida but Destin is a great place to go and best beach that is close to Baton Rouge.

It's all family friendly. Family had a place in Siler shells for 20 years. Nice property but the renters area is flooded with LA people

It's great especially for that time of the year. It's a crowded mess during the summer though.
In before the tards show up claiming that ifnyou aren't taking the private jet to the southern Caribbean its trashy

Most overrated vacation spot in the world. Seriously, Destin blows.

Wouldn't be my recommendation for "annual vacation" or anything, but underrated spot for taking a long weekend. Drive from Nola isn't long at all and you get to sit your arse on a nice beach for a couple of days. Good idea to go before May once it starts getting to crowded.

Don't treat it like some amazing destination, just enjoy the white sands and forget about life for a day or two. Worse things in life than popping a top at 9am and having a bronzed fish sandwich at the Front Porch or whatever that place is on the beach that serves food with the view.

5 star rentals has a few at $3000 for the week, nice shacks. Stay there last year 5 million dollar house for $3k. Hotels are $350 a night so if you have 6 or more , make sense to go that route...fishing was great.
