Anyone ever put soft drinks like coke zero or diet mountain dew in checked baggage and fly with it?

Just wondering if the altitude would cause them to explode. Cans or plastic bottles?

The baggage compartment is pressurized, so would likely not explode.

Actually, yes and the cruise line doesn't have the drinks we like and I would normally stop at a store and get something, but we are taking a later flight, so I won't have time for that. Trying to see if I can just pack what I need in checked baggage.

What do you like that they don’t have?

Is this beer you bought while you traveled?

I always assumed you should not pack liquids in luggage.

The more you know.

I've packed wine tons of times. Sometimes I use bubble wrap or wine sleeves, but not always. Never had a problem. But I it's in the middle of a suitcase with lots of clothes around it.

I checked a box with 6 wine bottles in it with zero issues. I've also flown with whiskey in checked luggage. I'm not sure if the carbonation would change anything.

ETA: Also, I couldn't imagine packing soft drinks in luggage

Well, the cruise line won't allow it in your checked baggage but the airline will. Cruise lines will want you to carry it on board and if found in your checked baggage it will be confiscated.

I normally don't bring beer with me but on my travels I usually buy local beers from wherever I am at or beers that are hard (or impossible) to get back home and fly them back without issue. I usually bring an extra bag just for this purpose.

You can't carry them on so checking them is the only option.
