Wife and I spending 4-5 nights in Sedona mid may.

-should we split a day to go stay in Flagstaff, or another place recommended?
-any food, golf, trails, other recs appreciated. Checked prior post and saw lava river cave, and definitely experiencing that.
-resorts seems limited to high spend, so likely airbnb seems best route.

Flagstaff is a really cool little mountain town. If you do stay in Flag for a night....I highly suggest to stay in their little downtown area so you can walk around.

If you have never been to Grand Canyon suggest taking a day to drive to South Rim to check it out.

Flagstaff is an hr away. No need to spend the night there. You can day trip.

Check out Cottonwood and Jerome.

We did an air bnb in somebody’s guest suite and it was much cheaper than hotels/

Golf: Sedona golf club or oak creek canyon. If you stay at the enchantment resort you get access to seven canyons.

Places to eat: mariposa has an awesome outside area with an unreal view. Honestly just google what you’re in the mode for and you’ll be set. The airport has a restaurant with a good view but average food.

If you’re in Sedona for 5 days I would just do a day trip to flag. Take the Lifts at snow bowl to the top of humphreys

Trails are plenty to chose from. Devils bridge gets steep at the en and most of it (unless you have a jeep) is walking down a dirt road. Little horse pass takes you to chicken point which has an awesome view, but just google too Sedona hikes.

Hiking: if doing Devil's Bridge try parking at Chuckwagon trailhead and hike it to devil's bridge. Also liked Mescal trail. Boynton Canyon hike for a wooded hike is a nice trek. Cathedral Rock was a semi climb/hike but with spectacular views.

Dinner one night at Elote Cafe is a must. They're only open for dinner and don't take reservations. The wait can be long I've been told, but we only waited 30 minutes for a nice table outside, and this was on a Friday night in June.

Mariposa has great views, but I thought the food was overpriced. It wasn't bad, but not worth what we paid for it. Nice place though.

There's a tiny little taco place named Tortas De Fuego that was awesome. Cheap, quick and really good authentic tacos.

Drive over to Jerome one day for lunch and check out the Haunted Hamburger. Great burgers in a really old house in an old mining town. Great views, and you can see Humphrey's Peak in Flag from there. Jerome is a cool place to walk around and burn off the lunch as well with tons of shops.

There are a lot of pizza places in Sedona. A few different people recommended Pisa Lisa to us. It was pretty good I guess, but if it's considered the best in Sedona I'd probably skip pizza. We had kids with us that wanted pizza that night.

We also weren't that impressed with Oak Creek Brewery & Grill.

I’d recommend renting your own Jeep if you’re a thrill seeker. Wife and I went here for our honeymoon. We had a jeep the whole trip and actually left Sedona without doing any trails initially. Went up to Flagstaff and the GC but on our way south again we did the Schnebly Hill Road (I think this was the name) trail that goes south into Sedona.

I googled it and and it said it was an easy trail so I was like cool let’s do it. That was the scariest/funnest trail I’ve ever done in my life . Giant rocks and holes on a “road” barely wide enough for one vehicle at times and no side railing on the side of a mountain. It was awesome!
