Like a 4 day 3 night deal. We're kicking around ideas for places to take the kids that are somewhat different than where we usually go. We would like to float the Guadalupe or some comparable river for at least one day. Where is the best place to stay to accomplish this? What else could be done that is kid friendly? Recs on where to stay, what to do, where to eat appreciated. Tia

Get on VRBO and rent a place on the river around Gruene or New Braunfels.
I'll be back down there the end of Sept. Looking forward to it.

Ive floated the comal, Guadalupe, and frio all tons of times. I've always enjoyed garner/frio the most.

Check out this place. We stay there every year, nice, on the river and close to just about everything.

Go on to Concan. Beautiful water, awesome houses and cool concerts at night.
Short of that (driving wise), find the hotel nearby Six Flags and lounge in the hotel's lazy river.

That place looks pretty sweet. We're staying at Wunder Cove Cottages this trip, but I'll keep this place in mind for next trip down there.

Yep...Leakey (Lake-ee)/Concan on the Rio Frio.....country of elevenhundred springs. You can drive over to Utopia and Lost Maples State Park on 337. The drive is spectacular.

how old are the kids? mine are 7 and 4 and we are going next weekend.
i use to live in New Braunfels so i know the area very well.
Lots of fun stuff to do around there. we are going to Landa Park for a picnic. its a part of the comal river and has a spring fed pond area for the kids and a train that goes around the park with animals and other stuff.its very nice
there is also Natural Bridge Caverns outside of New Braunfels thats really neat. its something different that has some really neat attractions.
you also have the snake farm on 35 on your way to San Antonio. its pretty sweet.
so much to do all over the hill country. we go all around. Blanco, Fredericksburg, Boerne. we like to just go in to the small towns and walk around and shop and finish up at a cool small town cafe for a drink and dinner.
have fun.
