As of now, it looks like Mission Beach has better airbnbs available for the time I will be there.

Is there any reason to stay in Ocean Beach over Mission beach?

South Mission Beach is definitely quieter, cleaner and more family oriented than Ocean Beach.

OB is grittier in some ways and has lots of bars, stores, restaurants, etc. MB is more you’re typical California beach town in some ways. Different than OB but not gritty.

Both are excellent and attract all ages but you might wanna consider staying in PB too. Lots of excellent bars of different types to dive to a little upscale and everything in between. PB Shore Club and Lahaina Beach House and The Local and a plethora of other bars excellent to go to for young 20somethings.

Don’t sleep on Coronado. We stayed there a few weeks ago and enjoyed it a lot. I wasn’t a big fan of La Jolla for some reason.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I needed to hear. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing out by not staying in Ocean Beach. I’ll look into Pacific Beach too.

Theres nothing available in Coronado for the time I’m going and the type of place I’m looking for.

Coronado island is a cool place to visit, but not all that cool to stay unless you plan on just getting a room at that super nice hotel and not doing much of anything

Yeah we just stayed for a night at the Del Coronado. Our favorite Cali spot was Santa Barbara

The Del is awesome, we were there for 4 days in February, but the older part is undergoing a major renovation that won’t be done until early ‘25, so wasn’t nearly as cool as my 1st trip there 4ish years ago.

We really enjoyed staying in Pacific Beach right on the ocean.

Would you post the place you stayed?

We will be going back to San Diego this summer for 8 nights and plan to spend two of those nights in Pacific Beach, would love a place right on the beach.

We stayed at the Pacific Terrace Hotel. Again, we really enjoyed the vibe of the area. Lots of SDSU students living and working around that area.

Lahaina Beach House

Not sure who you're traveling with or what your plans are, but this little bar right on the beach is a great place to have some beers and people watch. Food isn't bad either.
