Looking to take the wife on a weekend trip to San Antonio.

Any hotel recommendations? Preferably on or around the River Walk, but if you had a great experience close by, I'd like to hear about it.

TIA!

We've always stayed at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio. It's a nice hotel and right on the Riverwalk. Has a nice rooftop pool on the 5th floor that overlooks the RW. Great breakfast spot downstairs and a fun piano bar next to that.

As far as places to eat, you have to try Boudro's. Get the guac and treat yourself to a prickly pear marg. Their blackened prime rib is tough to beat.

Hope this helps and enjoy.

Mokara on the Riverwalk or Emma at Pearl Brewery. Make reservations for Sunday brunch at La Mansion across the river from Mokara.

great hotel

FYI ive stayed a ton down there and actually being ON the riverwalk will add $100 a night to a hotel. i did my research and found the Towneplace Suites downtown for under $100. its Marriott and was very nice- big room, great fitness center, huge buffet breakfast, and was a block from the riverwalk and 2 from the Alamo.

save your money and do something like that IMO. they prey off the tourists.

Emily Morgan or Menger Hotel.

Both, let's say have a certain aurora to them that makes them very special.

If you select the Emily Morgan (Doubltree Hotel), ask to stay on the 7th floor.

Menger. Old historic hotel across the street from the Riverwalk. Teddy Roosevelt used to recruit his Rough Riders in the bar there.

And from what I have heard, Teddy can often be seen downstairs at the bar.

Valencia is very nice. Wife and I always stay there. Right on the Riverwalk and very close to Luke (John Besh restaurant).

It does not have a pool. We don't go to SA to swim so it has no impact on us.

Never been disappointed with Valencia.

Contessa is nice. My favorite is the Riverwalk Vista. It is a small boutique hotel on the Riverwalk, and right in the middle of everything.
