This. Seattle is nice but very congested. Hop on the Kingston Ferry and spend 2-3 days in the ONP would be a great move. Spend 1 night in Port Townsend if you can and then circle the park over the next 2 days and back to Seattle...

Go to the Salmon Locks.

You should look into catching some crabs with your boys. If you go to any fishing piers that’s basically all they are doing. You can gets some rings for pretty cheap and will absolutely catch some. I don’t know the season or how good it is in October but for something to look into.

Plenty to do in the Seattle area for a week without taking the long arse trip to Olympic National Park. Weather should be fine. With kids I’d recommend the following.

-All the Seattle Center stuff.. Space needle/Chihuly Museum/MoPop/science museum/fountain
-Pike Place Market/1st Starbucks/gum wall
-Waterfront/sculpture park
-Duckboat tour
-Kerry Park. Best view of downtown. You can also walk a couple blocks west and there’s another little park with a sweet view of the sound.
-Sounders game. Buy tix off Stubhub for cheap.
-Ballard Locks
-Ballard Sunday market
-Fremont Bridge/troll
-Ferry to Bainbridge Island
-Snoqualmie Falls
-Volunteer Park/Bruce Lee grave
-Underground tour
-International District/Chinatown
-Hike Rattlesnake Ridge
-Muesum of Flight
-Streetcar from Westlake to South Lake Union
-Lake union electric boat or kayak rental
-Go to one of the Amazon stores where you don’t checkout (out of towners like this)
-Seaplane or heli tour
-Woodland Park Zoo/Green Lake
-Day trip to Rainier. Hike or Mount Rainier Gondola.
-Day trip up hwy 2 to Leavenworth

Museum of Flight. I was very surprised how many things there were to look at.

I have just booked two nights for Seattle in November. I am staying at the Belltown Inn which looked good value.

Is the Rock and Roll Museum you mention the same as the museum of pop or is this a different one?

I would love to do something involving the music scene so the rock and roll museum sounds good.

Is it possible to get near the place that Kurt Cobain killed himself? Or is this too far from downtown?

I have also been told that there is a sub pop shop at the airport? I would not mind checking this out.

Museum of Pop has rock & roll stuff in it. It is the same thing as the Rock & Roll museum.

You cannot get into see house/property where Cobain ended his life.

You should try to catch a show at The Crocodile Cafe. It's an historic Seattle music venue.

Will definitely check that stuff out.

I have just found a rock and roll tour you can do called Stalking Seattle. It looks cool and apparently goes by the place where Kurt killed himself.

We stayed for about 5-6 nights when LSU played there. I brought my girlfriend who is now my wife. We did all the usual stuff, good restaurants, space needle, original Starbucks, pike place. Some really Cool things we did was take the ferry to alki beach and eat at a good beachside restaurant. Took a seaplane for the day to Victoria, Canada and went on whale watching tour. Saw lots of orcas. Rented a car for one day and went to snoqualmie falls(sp?) and some other mountain lakes.

Can’t wait to go back, want to do mt ranier and la push

Was there this past summer...

-Kerry Park views are unbeatable
-Go to a sporting event (we saw the Mariners)
-Pike Place is touristy, but you can still find great, locally made food, trinkets, art, etc
-The underground Tour may be the best thing we did on the trip
-you can find the house Kurt Cobain killed himself in if that’s your thing
-eat at Ivar’s
-Seattle Center has the Space Needle, monorail, and museums
-Alki Beach in West Seattle is a nice diversion from the city, and you can get some great views of Seattle just across the West seattle Bridge

-day trip to Mount Rainier might be worth your time as well.

It’s definitely an area I want to return to sooner rather than later.
