Going to NYC for the first time for 4 days, 3 nights. What are some of the TB's suggestions on restaurants, bars, nightclubs, or just things to do.

Already have tickets to a Yanks game. Looking to hit up a comedy show as well. Katz deli is a must too.

TIA.

I went with my 15 yo dtr so our plans were different but we went to the Rockettes performace, Yankees game, Something Rotten at the St. James Theater and a concert at Madison Square Garden.

During the day we roamed China Town, Little Italy, Soho, Harlem, Fashion District, rode bikes along the Hudson River, visited Central Park (Rode bikes there as well), went to the Met, Live with Kelly, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. Phew we did do a lot and it was hot as hell. We didn't spend much time in upscale restaurants as we were more interested in doing -- just ate what was near where we were.

Oh and we went to New Jersey to Carlo's Bakery (her request).

We'd previously done Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Top of the Rock, and Rockefeller Plaza. Try to go to visitacity.com and you can see some of their suggested itineraries to give you an idea -- it was helpful for our planning to not be zig zagging all over the city!

Good thing I don't have a wife to go with.

Anything that you thought was overrated?

Unless you have a specific question, then you can search NYC or New York or Brooklyn on here and the food board and find at least 10 threads in the past few months on the topic that will be a good place to start.

I did, all that really came up was Tiger's thread.

If I was going to Chicago, I'd be set

I'm in NY right now. Last night went to this place called Rare for a burger and drinks and it was awesome - fantastic roofdeck. I have a great picture but having trouble getting it to work. I'll load it later.

Edit: was able to load it finally

Also I would recommend downloading the TodaysTix app on your phone. Can get last minute tickets to Broadway shows super cheap.

Idk about that. I had the app and it wasn't a huge discount. We weren't set on what to see so we went to tkts booth at 545, got orchestra tickets for Something Rotten for half price and then ate before the show at 7.

All tickets there are half off .. Great option if you're not set on a particular show.

And OP it was a mother/dtr trip and I didn't mind at all. We each had "a list" and shared the experience. She'll be graduated and gone before I know it!!

I should say on the school trip we went to the top of the rock but it was daytime. I wouldn't have minded going there or Empire State Building at night. Just didn't have enough nights!

Get an all day pass on the subway and see it all. Musicals are great, didn't think I would like them but the shows are spectacular. Always had to hit Chinatown for great deals. Best steak in the country at Uncle Jack's just south of Central Park.
