GF and I are going to PVR 5/12 - 5/16. We have never been and we would like to do an All Inclusive. None of us have any experience with AIs before. We just want to make sure that the food is good and we are not in a dump. So far my price-point is $315 (pre taxes, total $1257 for 4) a night at Hyatt Ziva. Are there any better AI resorts at this price over there?

Any other not to be missed activities?

Stayed at the Riu Palace in Puerto Vallarta. Not a big AI guy but I've been to a few, and like the Riu properties by far the least. Somehow they always get highly rated.

Yes the grounds are really nice. The food is exceptionally mediocre. The Riu apparently gets a ton of locals on the weekend too to stay. The pool is packed. Wasn't a fan.

But honestly, I wasn't a big fan of PV in general.

Is there like a running deal on TravelZoo or one of those sites for PV? I feel like everyone I know has been going there in the last year, and prior to that I never really heard about the place.

TravelZoo

What is that?

Could be due to the fact that SW started flying there in the past couple of years. Past couple of years is also when I first started hearing about PV. First heard about the place when the Hyatt Ziva opened.

I'm going because Hyatt is running a 50% sale (been running it for a while now) on all of its AIs and I wanted to burn all my SW points while I still have the Companion pass until the end of this year. Don't want to go to Jamaica or Cancun and don't want to do an AI in Cabo. So PV was the only option left (and also most economical). Heard very very good things about this resort. Since neither has ever experienced an AI, and probably never will again, felt like this was a good op to try it. Before I pull the trigger, I wanted to know if there are any other good options at that price. And if there are any must-dos that we would rather do. If those would take up a lot of our time we'd skip the AI.

TravelZoo is basically the groupon for vacations.

Don't do Barcelo. It's in Mismaloya which is a really pretty area, and you can get great cheap massages right there on the beach. But the food is awful and they are known for noro outbreaks. I was extravigilant with my handwashing and still got sick.

About a year ago PV had some negative news stories come out about drug violence and their tourism plummeted....so prices are very favorable if you are wanting to visit

Went 12 years ago with my GF at the time. Had an all inclusive. Waste of money. Pick another place if you can.

Fly into PV and drive 30 minutes to Punta Mita. They have a 4 Seasons and St Regis there.

Both are bad arse. You wont regret it.

Haha I know but I'll never pay $500 for a hotel room. Even when I'm an OT baller

The St. Regis edges out the 4 Seasons in Punta Mita, IMO.
