Been to crescent city grill before and might go again.

Anything else for lunch or brunch?

Any fun things to do during the day? Any good pools (preferably one at a hotel)?

Since rebeloke (a Hub City resident) started posting here, if I were to have to drive from Laurel to Poplarville, I'd go thru Vicksburg or Waynesboro to avoid Hattiesburg.

I kid, but the only meal I've had in Hattiesburg in the past five years was on July 16th of this year at a wonderful Cuban Restaraunt right off I-59.

ETA: Leo's Cuban Kitchen Leo's Link

I met and talked with the proprietor, Leo. He's about 60 and was an attorney in Cuba until about 10 years ago. Interesting guy and the food was wonderful.

Purple Parrot is the adjoining restaurant to crescent city. Run by Robert St. John. I always enjoyed eating in Mahogany, the bar right there connected to them both.

If you've never been downtown, check out Depot Coffee House and Bistro for a brunch/lunch. Kind of a cool area

As far as fun things to do during the day... meh. The Zoo, Paul B Johnson State Park, Southern Prohibition Brewery. Not many options. The apartment complexes have pools, doubt you want to go that route. I think the Courtyard has a pool and is the nicest hotel in Hattiesburg

Agree with the Mahogany recommendation. Also, Lincoln Road liquor store always has a ton of store picks.

I'm sure every hotel in Hattiesburg has a swimming pool. But, I'm not an out of town hotel swimming pool expert, either.

If you don't eat at Leatha's Barbecue while in Hattiesburg, you didn't do yourself justice. Everyone there knows about it. I stop there EVERY time I pass through Hattiesburg.

Next to Baymont. Yes, there was one, now it's something else.

The BBQ at Leatha's was slightly above average I thought, but not skyrocket worthy.. Would go again. If they're offering a steak, take the offer.

Meant to mention Leatha's. I like it a lot, but a lot of people think their sauce is too sweet.

Also, used to hit Strick's BBQ buffet to cure a hangover. Not a bad deal

Yes, they did but it was a converted motel with doors that opened to the outside. The new one was built right down the street from the previous one. It's way nicer.

When in Hattiesburg, stay at the Hilton Garden inn

Restaurant called Georgia Blue is one of my favorites...has wonderful food and has a pretty cool vibe too.
