I'll be in NY on the 23rd too baw.

That's actually my 30th, so I've been doing a lot of research on restaurants for dinner that night. What's your price point? What type of food are you looking for?

I guess about $200 for a sit down. We have steak, Italian, Greek covered. I guess I was looking for something not as trendy - that's why we have the queens cafe booked. We are staying at Westin in Times Square - we got a great rate

Just got back and had one of the best meals in a while at Beatrice Inn in the West Village. Incredible 60 day aged ribeye and whole branzino. Sides were amazing. Roasted whole squash and a potato terrine that was decadent. They also have a 127 day whisky aged tomahawk ribeye that was too pricey for my wallet.

My wife raved about the steak so much our pescetarian friend ate steak for the first time in 17 years. Highly recommend and worth the splurge.

These might be more toward trendy, but we have been on two trips and went all in on food. ABC Kitchen, Grammercy Tavern and Batard are all really great farm to table type places. Just really really good food, but not necessarily a food type.
Babbo is great Italian and is Mario Batali's place.
Santina is right under the High Line and is really good coastal Italian... fish, chickpea crepes etc. it is great

I would go somewhere for pizza.

Manhattan:
-Pasquale Jones. Rubirosa. For slices: Joe's Pizza. Prince Street Pizza.

Brooklyn: Di Fara. Emily. Lucali. Paulie Gee's. Roberta's is the holy grail and probably the #1 place I recommend to people.

We did the sit down restaurant in eataly last year and it was much better than I expected. It's in midtown and for something so trendy it was really good. Haven't been to carmines in a few years. I feel like it's rep is based on good pricing and oversized portions. We did Osteria Morini in SOHO recently and liked that a lot.
As someone else mentioned Gramercy Tavern is a great place. Always loved it.
If there is a must try pizza place IMO it's Lombardi's on Mott St.
And my favorite bar is always MCSorely's but all they have is beer. Light or dark draft.
